Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has pointed out Virat Kohli’s recurring weakness against deliveries outside off-stump. Kohli once again fell prey to the temptation of driving during the second Test between India and Australia.The much-anticipated pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval saw the hosts make a fiery start. All eyes were on Kohli, who boasts an impressive record in Adelaide with an average of over 63 and more than 500 Test runs at the venue. However, those statistics offered little solace as the star batter was dismissed for just 7 runs.
Manjrekar, disappointed with Kohli’s dismissal, highlighted his declining Test average and his persistent struggle against balls outside off-stump. He also criticized Kohli’s reluctance to adapt his approach. “One important reason why Virat’s average has slipped to 48 now is the unfortunate weakness outside off. But more crucially, his adamance to not try another way to tackle it,” Manjrekar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
