Samsung usually launches its latest Galaxy S series phones in late January or February. The South Korean tech giant is yet to reveal a possible date for the launch of the Galaxy S25 lineup, but a newly leaked survey suggests that we may see the phones earlier than usual this time. Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 series in January this year. Last year’s Galaxy S23 series was unveiled in February. Samsung’s new non-foldable flagship lineup is likely to include the vanilla Samsung Galaxy S25 alongside the Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra and a fourth Slim variant.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Lineup Early Launch Evidence Is Growing

A leaked Samsung promotional survey, spotted by X user IMEI Pham, points to an early January release for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra. As per the screenshots of the survey (translated from Vitanemes), users who complete the promotional survey will receive a “10 percent discount” on the 2025 Galaxy S series on “January 5,” hinting that Samsung could announce the lineup on that date.

The January 5 launch window would be earlier than Samsung’s usual launch timelines. This year’s Galaxy S24 series was launched on January 17 during the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose, California. Pre-orders for the phones opened that same day with a January 31 in-store sales date. The Galaxy S23 series was unveiled on February 1 2023 and went on sale from February 17.

Samsung recently revealed that the Galaxy S25 series will go official in the first half of next year. The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra models are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and are likely to ship with new Galaxy AI features. The purported fourth model, the Galaxy S25 Slim, is rumoured to join the lineup later. 

As per past leaks, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra will be released in seven colourways and the Galaxy S25+ in eight colour options. They are said to be available in three online exclusive shades as well.

 

Samsung Galaxy S25 series is expected to launch in early 2025 as a successor to the Galaxy S24 lineup. The existing lineup includes a base Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The anticipated series is expected to arrive with similar variants. Leaked details about the purported Galaxy S25 series have been surfacing online for a while and the upcoming handsets are said to be slimmer than the company’s current flagship models. A tipster has now leaked some details regarding the chipset expected to power the lineup.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Specifications (Leaked)

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series handsets will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, according to an X post by tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce). The tipster claims that the lineup will not include any Exynos 2500 and MediaTek Dimensity 9400 variants, suggesting all phones in all markets will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

Currently, the Galaxy S24 series phones carry Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets, although in several markets (including India) the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ come with an in-house Exynos 2400 SoC. As per the new leak, the upcoming Galaxy S25 series will exclusively feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

Recently Samsung Mobile President TM Roh announced at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 that future Samsung handsets will feature the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Elite but he did not specify the series or models that will get them. Since the S and Z series phones are the company’s flagship phones, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold and Flip as well as the Galaxy S25 series models are expected to get this chipset.

Previous leaks suggest that the purported Galaxy S25 series phones will be slimmer than their Galaxy S24 counterparts. The vanilla version could measure 146.94×70.46×7.25mm, while the Plus variant may measure 158.44 x 75.79 x 7.35mm in size.

The top-of-the-line Ultra version could measure 162.82×77.65×8.25mm. In comparison, the base Galaxy S24 measures 147×70.6×7.6mm, while the Plus and Ultra options measure 158.5×75.9×7.7mm and 162.3x79x8.6mm, respectively. Another report suggests that the Galaxy S25 Ultra may come with Black, Blue, Green, and Titanium colour options. 

Samsung Galaxy S25 series is expected to go official in early 2025 with three models — the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra. While the launch is not likely to take place for a few more months, purported details related to the design of the top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra model have already been spotted online. Amid these speculations, dummy units of the handset have surfaced online, giving us an idea about the handset’s dimensions. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is tipped to be thinner, and taller than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Dummy Hint at Refined Design

Tipster @xleaks7 leaked images and videos of the aluminium dummy unit of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in collaboration with Online Solitaire. The dummy unit is said to measure 162.82×77.65×8.25mm. This indicates that the purported device is slightly taller, narrower, and thinner than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The existing model measures 162.3×79.0x8.6mm. The latest leak aligns with redesign claims made by tipster Ice Universe.

The dummy unit of the alleged Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts noticeably rounded corners and slim bezels. The display has a hole punch cutout for the front camera and an earpiece speaker at the top of the screen.

It appears to have five circular cutouts for the camera array on the rear panel, resembling the rear design of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The dummy unit seems to have rounded corners, unlike the sharp corners of its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Specifications (Expected)

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to be announced in January 2025. It is said to come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 from Qualcomm, which is expected to be unveiled this month, along with up to 16GB of RAM. It is also expected to support the company’s Galaxy AI features.

As per past leaks, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature a quad rear camera unit comprising a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel sensor with 5x optical zoom, and 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and telephoto sensors. It could pack a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging support.

Samsung Galaxy S25+ may launch alongside the base Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra early next year. It is expected to launch as a successor to the Galaxy S24+, which was unveiled in January this year. Previous leaks have revealed CAD-based design renders as well as battery details of the purported handset. Now, the US variant of the smartphone has been spotted on a popular benchmarking website. Notably, the US variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra was also spotted on this site.

Samsung Galaxy S25+ Geekbench Listing

A Samsung handset with the model number SM-S936U, speculated to be the Galaxy S25+, has been spotted on Geekbench. The “U” suggests that this is the US variant of the purported handset. It appears with an octa-core Qualcomm chipset with two cores clocking 4.19GHz and six cores with a speed of 2.90GHz. The listed chipset comes with an integrated Adreno 830 GPU.

The chip architecture suggests that this is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, which is scheduled to launch in October. Notably, previous leaks have claimed that all Samsung Galaxy S25 series handsets may get this chipset. There will likely be Exynos 2500 variants of the lineup as well. Usually, the flagship Galaxy phones launch with Qualcomm chipsets in the US market.

The Samsung Galaxy S25+ scored 3,054 and 9,224 points on the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively, on the benchmarking site. The Geekbench listing shows that the purported Galaxy S25+ will support 12GB of RAM and run on Android 15. 

Previous leaks have shown CAD-based renders of the Samsung Galaxy S25+. It appears to be similar to the existing Galaxy S24+ model with additional rings surrounding the triple rear camera slots. We have seen a similar design in the rear camera module of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The Samsung Galaxy S25+ is expected to be backed by a 4,755mAh-rated battery with a typical value of 4,900mAh. This is similar to the preceding Galaxy S24+. It is tipped to support 45W wired fast charging.
