Commuters shouted slogans against Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi at the Ghazipur border on Wednesday, frustrated by traffic delays caused by barricades set up for his visit to violence-affected Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh.

Tensions escalated on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, where a clash occurred between Congress supporters and commuters due to the severe traffic jam.

Rahul Gandhi, along with newly elected Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, was prevented from continuing their journey to Sambhal and stopped at the Delhi-UP border.

A commuter stuck at Ghazipur border said, “I do not know anything why we are stopped? If he (Rahul Gandhi) is over there (other side of the road) then why is this road blocked? Why does the public have to suffer?

Rahul, Priyanka stopped from going to Sambhal

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi said he was ready to relinquish his convoy and go to violence-hit Sambhal alone with the police but the authorities stopped him

Rahul Gandhi said, “We are trying to go to Sambhal, the police is refusing, they are not allowing us. As LoP, it is my right to go, but they are stopping me. I am ready to go alone, I am ready to go with the police, but they did not accept that too. They are saying that if we come back in a few days then they will let us go. This is against the rights of the LoP and against the Constitution. We just want to go to Sambhal and see what happened there, we want to meet the people. My constitutional right is not being given to me. This is the new India, this is the India to end the Constitution. This is the India to end Ambedkar’s Constitution. We will keep fighting”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “Whatever happened in Sambhal is wrong. Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the opposition, he has constitutional rights and he cannot be stopped like this. He has the constitutional right to be allowed to go and meet the victims. He also said that he would go alone with the UP police but they are not ready to do that either. The police have no answer. Maybe the situation in Uttar Pradesh is such that they cannot handle even this much. Why do they say so arrogantly that they have taken care of the law and order?” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said.Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi returned to Delhi after being stopped at Ghazipur border from visiting Sambhal.

Violence broke out in Sambhal district on November 24 during an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) inspection of a Mughal-era mosque. The clashes left four people dead and several police officers and locals injured. The ASI survey was conducted following a petition filed in a local court, alleging that the mosque was built on the site of an ancient Harihar temple.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, along with Priyanka Gandhi MP and other Congress leaders from Uttar Pradesh, will visit violence-hit Sambhal on December 4, the party said.

The visit comes amid restrictions on entry of outsiders imposed by the district administration until December 10, following last month’s violence during a survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid that killed five people.

On December 3, district magistrate of Sambhal, Rajendra Pensia wrote to the police commissioners of neighbouring Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad districts and the superintendents of police of Amroha and Bulandshahr districts, urging them to stop Rahul Gandhi at the borders of their districts during the visit.

“On November 24, a remaining survey was conducted, following which members of the Muslim community staged massive protests involving gunfire, stone-pelting, and arson. As a result, the situation in Sambhal district has become extremely sensitive. Until December 10, the entry of any external individuals, social organisations, or public representatives into Sambhal district is restricted without prior approval from the competent authority. Prohibitory orders have been issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023,” the Sambhal DM said in the letter.

On November 24, violence erupted during a court-ordered ASI survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, a 500-year old mosque in Sambhal, leading to the death of five people. The mosque is protected by the Archaeological Survey of Indiaf Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi Ji be ensured, and appropriate arrangements be made to prevent him from entering the boundaries of the district. Kindly direct the concerned authorities to take necessary action in this regard,” he added.

Moradabad’s divisional commissioner, Aunjaneya Kumar Singh, said that the administration is urging Gandhi to postpone his visit.

“The District Magistrate has imposed restrictions on the arrival of outsiders in Sambhal until December 10. This measure aims to maintain peace and prevent the currently stabilising situation from escalating again. While the situation is under control, tensions remain, and the presence of outsiders could provoke further disturbances. This decision was based on assessments by the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police,” Singh said.

Akhilesh Slams BJP

Speaking in Lok Sabha on December 3, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over violence in Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, alleging that the incident was a ‘well-planned conspiracy’ of the saffron party to distract the public from more pressing issues.

Those who want to dig everywhere will someday lose the cordiality and brotherhood of the country.

Sambhal violence: Cartridges made in Pakistan, USA found https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/03/sambhal-violence-cartridges-made-in-pakistan-usa-found/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/03/sambhal-violence-cartridges-made-in-pakistan-usa-found/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 03 Dec 2024 15:48:50 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/03/sambhal-violence-cartridges-made-in-pakistan-usa-found/

BAREILLY: In a major development, the Sambhal police found a connection between the Sambhal violence and Pakistan, as an empty cartridge of a bullet made in Pakistan was recovered from the incident site on Tuesday. Six cartridges were recovered from the drains at the incident site. One of them was made in Pakistan, while another was manufactured in the USA. The cartridges were recovered during a drive by the forensic team with the Municipal Corporation team.
“On Tuesday, the forensic team arrived at the Kot Garvi neighbourhood, where violence occurred on November 24 during the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid. The team found six cartridges in the drains. One of these empty cartridges was manufactured at the Pakistan Ordnance Factory,” said Additional SP Shrish Chandra. Soon after the recovery, security agencies were alerted and rushed to the spot.
Confirming the recovery of the cartridges and the possibility of a Pakistan connection with the violence, Moradabad’s Divisional Commissioner Aunjaneya Singh told TOI, “One of the cartridges had ‘POF’ (meaning Pakistan Ordnance Factory) written on it. It is a 9 mm cartridge, and the bullet was shot. It is suspected that it is made in Pakistan. Another 9 mm cartridge with ‘FL with two stars’ is possibly made in the USA. Additionally, two 12-bore and two 32-bore shell casings were found. The police team is still conducting a search operation using metal detectors. We are taking the help of the Municipal Corporation in the drive.”

SP Sambhal said, “Two SITs were formed to carry out the investigation of the Sambhal violence. One of the investigation officers carried out a search operation with the support of the Municipal Corporation and recovered one made in Pakistan and one made in the USA cartridge, along with four other cartridges. The recovery of international cartridges is shocking for the police, and it will be investigated thoroughly with the help of investigation agencies. In the past, NIA took the help of local police in collecting information about criminals involved in anti-national activities. We will check the history of all criminals with any connection to terrorism and check if they were involved in the violence.”

Parliament Winter Session: Akhilesh Yadav slams BJP over Sambhal violence – 'they want to dig everywhere…’ https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/03/parliament-winter-session-akhilesh-yadav-slams-bjp-over-sambhal-violence-they-want-to-dig-everywhere/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/03/parliament-winter-session-akhilesh-yadav-slams-bjp-over-sambhal-violence-they-want-to-dig-everywhere/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 03 Dec 2024 07:19:14 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/03/parliament-winter-session-akhilesh-yadav-slams-bjp-over-sambhal-violence-they-want-to-dig-everywhere/

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on December 3 lashed at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over recent violence in Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh alleging that the incident was a ‘well-planned conspiracy’ of the saffron party to distract the public from other, more pressing issues.

The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh accused the administration and police of Sambhal of acting in a biased manner, suggesting that they were behaving as though they were BJP party workers rather than impartial authorities.

On November 24, violence erupted during a court-ordered ASI survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, a 500-year old mosque in Sambhal leading to death of five people. The mosque is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India(ASI),

“Those who want to dig everywhere will someday lose the cordiality and brotherhood of the country,” Yadav said on Lok Sabha speaking during the ongoing winter session of Parliament.

‘Well-planned conspiracy’

“The incident that took place in Sambhal is a well-planned conspiracy…By-elections were supposed to be held in Uttar Pradesh on November 13 but it was deferred to November 20. This government (BJP) does not believe in the Constitution. A petition was filed against Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal. An order for a survey of the mosque was passed even before listening to the other side. On November 19, the survey was conducted and the report was to be given to the Court,” Yadav said.

Uttar Pradesh is ruled by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government.

On November 29, the Supreme Court, while hearing a plea challenging a court order that allowed the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal on directed the petitioners to approach the High Court for resolution of the matter.

“On November 24, another survey was conducted, during which people gathered to know the reason for the survey. Circle Officer abused the people gathered there and lathi charge was done. After this, police opened fire with their govt and private weapons, during which dozens were injured and 5 innocents were killed,” Yadav said.

Yadav also demanded that action should be taken against the district administration and police of Sambhal. “A murder case should be filed against police and administration and they should be suspended so that people can get justice and such an incident is not repeated in future,”

The Winter Session of Parliament that began on November 25 has been unable to function smoothly due to relentless protests over Adani bribery charges and violence in Sambhal. The proceedings continued without any ruckus for the first time on Tuesday.

Those who want to dig everywhere will someday lose the cordiality and brotherhood of the country.
