Saif Ali Khan lauded Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday for engineering a ‘impressive transformation’ in public perception. The popular Bollywood actor also dubbed several leading personalities — including Prime Minister Narendra Modi — as “brave politicians”. Khan however shied away from declaring support for any party and insisted that he was “not ready” to join politics in the near future.

“I think what Rahul Gandhi has done has also been very impressive because there was a point where people were disrespecting things he was saying and things he was doing. And I think he’s turned that around by working very hard, in a very interesting way,” the 54-year-old said at the India Today Mumbai Conclave.

Khan insisted that he wanted to remain “apolitical” in his outlook and eschewed discussion about his personal politics. The Adipurush actor however opined that “democracy is alive and thriving in India”.

“I’m not a politician. I don’t really want to be a politician. And if I had strong views, I think I would become one and then share them in that way. I mean, you guys (journalists) are really brave and much braver than me. I’m not looking for that kind of heat. But if I was, then I would go all the way and become. And join a political party. But I’m not ready to do that yet,” he added at the event.

The actor also said that he had become more wary about picking projects in recent years followed controversies around around his 2023 film Adipurush and the OTT series Tandav.

“It’s a little unsettling because there was a case and there was some kind of a decision taken by the court that said an actor is responsible for what he says on screen. So technically, if you say something, you could get a case against you, saying you shouldn’t have said that, which is a lot of pressure. So you try and tell the producer that, ‘listen, if anyone gets in trouble, it’s going to be you.’ But I don’t know how covered you actually are,” he added.

Real-life tragedy behind 'Devara Part 1' https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/26/real-life-tragedy-behind-devara-part-1/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/26/real-life-tragedy-behind-devara-part-1/?noamp=mobile#respond Thu, 26 Sep 2024 08:37:26 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/26/real-life-tragedy-behind-devara-part-1/

As Devara release date is nearing (September 27), the excitement level of fans is also soaring high. Fans can’t wait to see the epic pairing of Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR on the big screen in Devara: Part 1. As anticipation gears up, grapevine suggest that the story of the Telugu film is based on a real-life story. Is the Koratala Siva directorial, which also stars Saif Ali Khan and Prakash Raj among others based on a true story? Here’s what we know!

Is Devara: Part 1 based on true story?

If the grapevine is to be believed, the highly anticipated movie is based on a real-life tragic incident that affected thousands of people in Andhra Pradesh. Fans believe since writer-director Koratala Siva has a knack of taking inspiration from real-life historical incidents in his films, this could indeed be true. They think the story of the film could be roughly inspired from the infamous and tragic Karamchedu massacre that happened in Andhra Pradesh in 1985.

All about 1985 Karamchedu massacre that reportedly inspired Devara: Part 1

It is being said that the movie will show the 1985 Karamchedu massacre wherein a Dalit colony called Madigapalle was attacked by a huge group of dominant caste Kammas in Karamchedu in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district. Kammas were armed with deadly weapons and ended up killing six men and raping three women. The feud started with a Madiga woman over drinking water tank. Will Devara showcase the true story of Karamchedu massacre? Well, that remains to be seen.

Devara: Part 1 plot

As per the official synopsis, the film’s story is set in the 1980s and 1990s and follows the lead character named Devara, who is a brave man living in a coastal village. To save his people, he takes up some dangerous tasks. However, all this while he is unaware that his brother Bhaira is secretly working against him.

Speculations are rife that Jr NTR starts in dual roles in the film. However, this has neither been confirmed nor been declined by the makers. Here’s what a Reddit user thinks the story of the the Janhvi Kapoor starrer could be:
