The Aam Aadmi Party continued its criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday regarding his statement that the Delhi and West Bengal governments have not implemented the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme due to “political interests.”

“It is not right to speak wrongly on the issue of people’s health. It is not right to do politics on this,” said Arvind Kejriwal in a post on X.

Kejriwal’s remarks came after Prime Minister Modi criticised the Delhi and West Bengal governments for failing to implement the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme out of “political interests.”

Notably, Delhi and West Bengal are among the states where the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojna is not implemented.

A day earlier, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal accused the prime minister of playing politics with public health issues in the national capital, PTI reported.

At a press conference on Wednesday, party spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar termed the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme a “scam” and said the PM should study the Delhi health model.

“Health is an important issue for the Aam Aadmi Party. We have presented such a model of health that Kofi Annan (former United Nations Secretary-General) appreciated us, and PM Modi has presented a scam under Ayushman Bharat… the CAG has to speak about this fraud,” Kakkar said.

Prime Minister Modi should examine Arvind Kejriwal’s Delhi health model and apply it to the whole country, she added.

The spokesperson claimed that out of 27,000 hospitals incorporated in Ayushman Bharat, 7,000 only exist on paper and 4,000 hospitals have not admitted any patients under the scheme.

Addressing a public gathering in New Delhi’s All India Institute of Ayurveda on Tuesday, Modi said, “I apologise to all the elderly aged above 70 years in Delhi and West Bengal. I hear your pain, but due to the state governments’ decisions, I cannot help you.”

Modi said he was disappointed with the state of free healthcare for the elderly in West Bengal and Delhi, and called it a missed opportunity to serve the senior citizens.

Reacting to Modi’s allegations, Kejriwal said it is not right to speak wrongly about the issue of public health and indulge in politics about it.

In a long post on X, he said PM Modi should study the Delhi model of healthcare and replace his government’s Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme with it across the country for real benefit to the people.

‘The hybrid phase is temporary,’ says Omar Abdullah to bureaucrats. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that he has received assurances at the ‘highest level’ in New Delhi that the commitments made to the Union Territory with regard to governance model will change.

The hybrid model of governance, Abdullah said, is temporary and the statehood status for Jammu and Kashmir will be restored soon.

“I would tell you in no uncertain terms that there is zero tolerance for this [corruption]. But I am also acutely aware that we have unfortunately at the moment rather hybrid system of operating. And I have a feeling, and I am going to say regardless of the consequences some may feel they can exploit the system for their advantage, that they can find loopholes in this system that we have in J&K at the moment,” Adbullah is heard saying while addressing administrative secretaries in Srinagar. The ministers are also seen in the video sitting next to Abdullah.

Abdullah also administered an integrity pledge to the bureaucrats on the occasion.

“But please rest assured. This is a temporary phase. I have just come back from very successful meetings from New Delhi. I have received assurances at the highest level that the commitments made to J&K particularly with regard to governance model will change,” the Chief Minister, who recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, among others, during his Delhi trip.

Loopholes to end soon

“And therefore, if there is anybody who believes that somehow that UT will shield you from the consequences of practices which goes against this pledge, please remember the shield may last temporarily. But it is only temporary. Once the full statehood to J&K is restored there will be no loopholes to exploit or any advantages to be taken by playing against one another,” Abdullah said.

Abdullah’s National Conference won the recent Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, clinching 42 out of 90 seats. This was the first elections in the union territory in a decade and also first assembly election after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two Union Territories.

Abdullah was sworn in as the Chief Minister on October 16, making him first CM of the Union Territory.

This is a temporary phase. I have just come back from very successful meetings from New Delhi.

The Modi government is likely to initiate the process of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, five years after the erstwhile state was bifurcated into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The first step in the direction may come during the Winter Session of Parliament in November-December, according to some reports.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured Chief Minister Omar Abdullah the centre’s full support to the newly elected government, a report in NDTV said quoting sources.

New Delhi: Prime minister Narendra Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat radio address on Sunday, reflected on self-reliance and national unity, India’s rise in animation and gaming, and a collective fight against cyber fraud.

Speaking to people across India, the prime minister focused on the contributions of Indian heroes, the blossoming digital creativity of the youth, and the importance of self-reliance and vigilance in the modern age.

Self-reliance has become not only our policy but our passion as well. Not that long ago… just 10 years ago, if someone had said then, that some complex technology was to develop in India, many people would not believe it and many would ridicule it—but today the same people are amazed to see the success of the country,” he said during the 115th edition of the programme.

“Becoming self-reliant, India is doing wonders in every sector. Just think, India, which used to import mobile phones once upon a time, is the world’s second-largest manufacturer today. India, which once was the biggest buyer of defence equipment in the world, is now exporting to 85 countries. Today, in space technology, India has become the first country to reach the south pole of the moon,” he added.

Animation, gaming sectors

The prime minister also addressed India’s emerging role in animation and gaming, noting the global appeal of Indian-created animation characters, from Chhota Bheem to Hanuman.

He highlighted how Indian talent is making its mark internationally and contributing to iconic global projects like Spider-Man and Transformers.

“Our youth are creating content that reflects Indian culture, making India a rising powerhouse in animation,” he said.

” I would like to tell the youth of India—expand your creativity. Who knows, the world’s next super hit animation might emerge from your computer! The next viral game could be your creation! Your innovation in educational animations can achieve great success,” he added.

The prime minister also warned of cyber threats and scams like “digital arrest,” where fraudsters intimidate victims by posing as officials of law enforcement agencies.

“People have lost lakhs of rupees earned through their hard work, out of sheer fear. Whenever you receive such a call, don’t be scared. You should be aware that no investigative agency ever inquires like this through a phone call or a video call,” he said.

Beware of cyber fraud

“I am enumerating the three steps to digital security. These three steps are—’Stop – Think – Take Action. As soon as you get a call, stop… – don’t panic, stay calm, don’t take any hasty steps, don’t give away your personal information to anyone; if possible, take a screenshot and record it for sure,” he added.

Modi also urged the public to support local businesses and strengthen the the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign.

“In this festival season, we strengthen this campaign of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. We do our shopping with the mantra of ‘vocal for local’. This is the new India where the impossible is just a challenge… where ‘make in India’ has now turned into ‘make for the world’, where every citizen is an innovator, where every challenge is an opportunity,” he said.

“We not only have to make India self-reliant, but also strengthen our country as a global powerhouse of innovation,” he added.

NEW DELHI: The Tata-Airbus facility to manufacture C-295 tactical military airlift aircraft at Vadodara in Gujarat will be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez on Monday. Under the Rs 21,935 crore contract inked for 56 C-295 aircraft in 2021, 16 of the twin-turboprop planes are being delivered directly by Airbus from Spain and 40 are to be made in India.
“The Indian and Spanish PMs will jointly inaugurate the TATA Aircraft Complex for manufacturing C-295 aircraft at the TATA Advanced Systems Ltd campus,” an official said.
The first of the 40 planes to be produced at the new facility is slated to roll out in Sept 2026 and the last in Aug 2031. Capable of carrying up to nine-tonne of payload or 71 soldiers with a “short take-off and land” capability from semi-prepared surfaces in hilly terrain, the C-295 aircraft will boost IAF’s tactical airlift capability along the China border, as also other places like the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago, as reported earlier by TOI.
The C-295 aircraft will replace IAF’s HS-748 Avro fleet. This is the first instance of the private sector manufacturing a military aircraft, breaking the virtual monopoly of defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics.
The Rajnath Singh-led defence acquisitions council in Feb had approved the initial case for 15 more C-295 aircraft, with nine being earmarked for Navy and six for Coast Guard.

Andhra Chief Minister set to declare policy to make state India's drone capital https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/24/andhra-chief-minister-set-to-declare-policy-to-make-state-indias-drone-capital/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/24/andhra-chief-minister-set-to-declare-policy-to-make-state-indias-drone-capital/?noamp=mobile#respond Thu, 24 Oct 2024 09:44:42 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/24/andhra-chief-minister-set-to-declare-policy-to-make-state-indias-drone-capital/

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the state will become the “Drone Capital of India” during the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024, held in Mangalagiri. As part of his vision to make Andhra Pradesh a leader in drone technology, Naidu revealed plans to allocate 300 acres of land in Orvakal, Kurnool District, for a dedicated drone hub. This initiative aims to make Andhra Pradesh the top destination for drone manufacturing, innovation, and research.

In addition to developing the drone hub, Naidu also outlined an ambitious plan to train 35,000 drone pilots to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in this industry. “Drones will play a crucial role in agriculture, healthcare, traffic management, and even disaster relief,” Naidu said, pointing to the use of drones during the recent floods in Vijayawada, where they delivered food and water to stranded people.

During the two-day summit, Naidu promised that within 15 days, the state government would release a comprehensive drone policy designed to attract drone manufacturers and create a business-friendly environment for innovators. This policy will make Andhra Pradesh a testing ground for drone applications, with successful pilot projects set to expand across the state and the country.

He assured that drones would be used extensively in police work for surveillance and monitoring, especially to keep an eye on criminal activities.

Reflecting on his role in driving India’s IT revolution in the 1990s, Naidu shared how his initiatives, such as launching Hyderabad’s HiTech City through a public-private partnership, helped establish the city as a major technology hub. He credited his collaboration with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for opening up India’s telecom sector, which paved the way for the country’s mobile technology boom. “Back then, we brought global tech giants like Microsoft to India, and now, we’re doing the same with drones,” Naidu said.

The Chief Minister praised the current leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “India is on track to becoming the third-largest economy by 2047 under Modi’s leadership, and with initiatives like JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile) and Ayushman Bharat, we’ve strengthened the country’s digital and healthcare infrastructure.”

The Union government is likely to initiate the process of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, five years after the erstwhile state was bifurcated into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured Chief Minister Omar Abdullah the centre’s full support to the newly elected government, a report in NDTV said quoting sources. Omar met Shah in Delhi on Wednesday.

“The meeting that lasted half an hour was held in a very cordial atmosphere. The home minister assured the centre’s full support to the newly elected government and to initiate the process of restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir,” the NDTV report quoted a source as saying.

Abdullah-led J&K cabinet passed a resolution demanding the restoration of statehood in its first cabinet meeting held last week.

Abdullah to meet PM Modi

Abdullah is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday and submit a copy of the resolution to him as well. The resolution also emphasises on the J&K government’s commitment to protect the identity and constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The home minister assured the centre’s full support to the newly elected government.

Following the scrapping of Article 370 in August 2019, Jammu and Kashmir was downgraded to a UT.

Elections for the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly were held in three phases, from September 18 to October 1, resulting in the formation of a government by the National Conference-Congress alliance.

Before taking the oath, Omar Abdullah had said that the first task of his government would be to become the voice of the people. Earlier, Congress leader P Chidambaram had also expressed that ‘first task of the new government should be to demand the restoration of statehood to J-K’, and all the INDIA parties should support it.

No place for double standards on terrorism: PM Modi https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/23/no-place-for-double-standards-on-terrorism-pm-modi/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/23/no-place-for-double-standards-on-terrorism-pm-modi/?noamp=mobile#respond Wed, 23 Oct 2024 10:38:09 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/23/no-place-for-double-standards-on-terrorism-pm-modi/

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the Brics summit in Kazan where he called upon the countries to unite against terrorism and terror financing. He also stressed upon the need for reforms in global institutions like UN Security Council which has been facing backlash for its failure to stop the Israel-Gaza war.
“We all have to be united and cooperate strongly to deal with terrorism and terror financing. There is no place for double standards on such a serious issue. We should take active steps to prevent radicalization among the youth of our countries,” he said.
“We have to work together on the pending issue of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism in the UN,” he added.
PM Modi reached Kazan on Tuesday to attend the 16th Brics summit. He held bilateral meeting with Russian President Putin where he said that India was ready to provide help to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

‘Reform not replace’: PM Modi on Brics role in global institutions

PM Modi said that the global institutions needed reforms and Brics should resort to bringing changes in these institutions rather than replacing them.
“We should move forward in a timely manner for reforms in global institutions like UN Security Council, Multilateral Development Banks, WTO.”
“While taking forward the efforts of Brics, we should keep in mind that the image of this organisation should not be such that we do not want to reform global institutions but want to replace them,” he added.

‘We support dialogue and diplomacy, not war’

At a time when West Asia, parts of Europe (Russia, Ukraine) and Africa is struggling with humanity crisis, PM Modi called upon the need for solution through dialogue and diplomacy instead of war.
“Our meeting is taking place at a time when the world is surrounded by many challenges like wars, conflicts, economic uncertainty, climate change, terrorism. There is talk of North-South and East-West divide in the world,” he said.
“We should give the message to the world that Brics is not a divisive but a public interest group,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that there is no scope for rest as his government works to make India’s dreams come true and fulfill its pledge.

“I meet many people who tell me, ‘India is now the fifth largest economy in the world, so many milestones have been achieved, reforms implemented, then why are you working so hard?,” Modi said addressing the NDTV World Summit.

“In the last 10 years, 12 crore toilets have been built, and 16 crore homes have gas connections… is this enough? My answer is no. This is not enough. Today India is among the youngest countries in the world. This youth potential can take us to the skies,” Modi said at the event.

Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister for the record third time along with 71 cabinet ministers in June this year. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 held in February to April this year.

No rest, no relaxation: PM Modi

“The dreams we have seen, the pledge we have made, there is no rest, no relaxation,” Modi said at the summit.

“There’s a tradition that every government compares its work with that of the previous government. We used to walk this path too, but from now on we can’t compare the past and the present and be happy with it. The metric of success from now on would be ‘What we want to achieve’. India now has a forward-looking approach. The vision for a developed India by 2047 is a part of this mindset,” he said as per NDTV report.

The metric of success from now on would be ‘What we want to achieve’.

Modi said India emerged as a beacon of hope as the developments in the last five years had become a cause for global concern. These, he said, include the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in the disruption of economies, price rise and unemployment, followed by wars in Ukraine and West Asia.

“In India, we are discussing the India Century. India is the ray of hope amid the global crisis. There are challenges in front of India but we feel a sense of positivity here,” Modi said.

India has a significant advantage in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the NDTV World Summit 2024 on Monday.
