Diwali Muhurat Trading 2024 Timings: Stock exchanges in India are closed for regular trading on Friday, that is on November 1, 2024, following Diwali celebrations on Thursday, with a brief window open for Muhurat trading.
Indian markets have shown remarkable growth since the previous Diwali, with Nifty rising 25% and S&P BSE Sensex gaining 23% despite recent pullbacks from 2024 highs. The broader market indices have demonstrated even stronger performance, with BSE 500, BSE Midcap, and BSE Smallcap indices recording gains of 37%, 47%, and 47% respectively.

Muhurat Trading 2024: Timings

NSE and BSE will hold their Diwali Muhurat trading on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, signaling the start of Samvat 2081. The pre-opening session is scheduled from 5:45 pm to 6:00 pm, while regular trading remains suspended for Diwali celebrations.
The one-hour special trading session aligns with traditional beliefs about favorable planetary positions for initiating new business ventures, conducted amid traditional Diwali decorations. Analysis shows the BSE Sensex has ended positively in 13 out of the past 17 special sessions.

Samvat 2081: Stock Market Outlook

October witnessed a significant decline with Nifty dropping 1,470 points (5.7%), influenced by disappointing Q2 earnings and valuation concerns. Key market influences for the upcoming period include US elections, state elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Delhi, plus the Union Budget in February.
SBI Securities advises that Samvat 2081 will favor selective stock picking. They recommend wealth preservation strategies for existing investors and suggest new investors should implement a systematic investment approach over 3-6 months to benefit in the latter half of Samvat 2081.
“We believe Samvat 2081 will be a bottoms-up stock pickers market. Investors should adopt trading/investment strategy so as to preserve the wealth created post Covid pandemic and temper down return expectations for the next 6-12 months. New investors should adopt a gradual and well spread-out capital deployment strategy for the next 3-6 months so as to reap benefits in the second half of Samvat 2081,” said SBI Securities in its note.
