Apple is reportedly working on a display technology with up to 90Hz refresh rate that could make its way to upcoming iPad Air models. Apple’s iPad, iPad Mini, and iPad Air models are equipped with LCD screens with a 60Hz refresh rate, and the Air lineup could be updated with a higher refresh rate. The improved display technology could reportedly also make its way to the 24-inch iMac and even Apple’s Studio Display. Apple is also rumoured to be working on equipping the iPhone 17 series with 120Hz displays.

Citing an anonymous source that reached out to them, Mike Hurley and Jason Snell, hosts of the Upgrade podcast (via 9to5Mac) claim that Apple is working on a new screen technology that will be used to equip the company’s next-generation iPad Air with a 90Hz display. The current generation Air model has a 60Hz screen and Apple’s M2 chip, while its successor could arrive with the M3 chip.

The information shared by the source also suggests that the iPad Air will only be the first Apple device to arrive with the purported 90Hz display. The company will reportedly “working on expanding it to other models or products like a 24-inch Mac and a next-gen Studio Display.”

While Apple has typically limited access to displays with a high refresh rate to its ‘pro’ smartphone and tablet models, recent reports suggest that the company could launch the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim/ Air with a 120Hz screen. Most smartphone vendors offer handsets with 120Hz refresh rates at lower prices than the regular iPhone, so it’s not surprising that Apple could be keen to close the gap in technology on its standard iPhone models.

It’s worth taking these claims with a grain of salt, considering that Apple only launched its M2 iPad Air model earlier this year. The company is also very secretive about its upcoming products, so we’re unlikely to see concrete information related to the purported display upgrades for Apple’s next iPad Air, Studio Display, and 24-inch iMac models until they are unveiled by the firm.

MacBook Air With M4 Chip to Debut in Early 2025, M4 Mac Studio Delayed to Second Quarter: Report https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/24/macbook-air-with-m4-chip-to-debut-in-early-2025-m4-mac-studio-delayed-to-second-quarter-report/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/24/macbook-air-with-m4-chip-to-debut-in-early-2025-m4-mac-studio-delayed-to-second-quarter-report/?noamp=mobile#respond Thu, 24 Oct 2024 09:29:04 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/24/macbook-air-with-m4-chip-to-debut-in-early-2025-m4-mac-studio-delayed-to-second-quarter-report/

Apple is working on an updated MacBook Air with the company’s current generation M4 chip that is expected to arrive in “early 2025”, according to a report. The Cupertino company is also developing a new Mac Studio model that is also equipped with an M4 chip, but it has reportedly been delayed by a few months. Meanwhile, Apple is expected to launch new M4-powered Mac models next week, including a new iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini, in what is likely to be the company’s last hardware launch of the year.

Apple Could Launch M4 MacBook Air Model in Early 2025

A Bloomberg report citing people aware of the matter states that Apple could soon begin production of new M4 MacBook Air models that could be launched by the company in early 2025, alongside new iPhone SE, iPad, and iPad Air models. The current generation MacBook Air with an M3 chip was introduced in March, and a refreshed model with a more powerful processor could arrive around the same time next year.

Apple’s upcoming MacBook Air models will be available in 13-inch (codenamed J713) and 15-inch (J715) display sizes and will feature the same design as the current generation MacBook Air models, according to the report. These variants are likely to be introduced after a software update that is expected to arrive in December.

Meanwhile, an updated Mac Studio model with an M4 chip (codenamed J575) won’t be announced in the first quarter, according to Bloomberg. It will reportedly be launched between March and June, and there’s no word on when Apple will refresh the Mac Pro with an M4 chip. This claim was first made by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman earlier this year.

Apple Expected to Refresh Mac Models With M4 Chip

Earlier this month, Gurman stated that Apple would launch a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M4 chip (codenamed J604), and high-end 14-inch (J614) and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4 chips (J616). Similarly, a Mac mini with M4 or M4 Pro chips (J773) along with a refreshed iMac with an M4 chip (J623) could also be launched by the company.

Apple launched a refreshed iPad Mini with an A17 Pro chip — the processor that powered the iPhone 15 Pro — on October 15, while the company has yet to unveil the new Mac models listed above. Previous reports suggest that the upcoming M4 Mac Mini will feature a much smaller body that resembles the Apple TV box. it is currently unclear whether Apple will hold a launch event for these products, or announce their arrival via its website, like the new iPad Mini (2024).

Apple Might Hold October Launch Event for Updated iPad Mini, M4-Powered Mac Models: Gurman https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/09/apple-might-hold-october-launch-event-for-updated-ipad-mini-m4-powered-mac-models-gurman/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/09/apple-might-hold-october-launch-event-for-updated-ipad-mini-m4-powered-mac-models-gurman/?noamp=mobile#respond Mon, 09 Sep 2024 06:01:15 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/09/apple-might-hold-october-launch-event-for-updated-ipad-mini-m4-powered-mac-models-gurman/

Apple’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ launch event is scheduled to take place later today, as the Cupertino company is expected to launch up to four handsets in the iPhone 16 series that will offer Apple Intelligence features, as well as new AirPods and Apple Watch models. This isn’t likely to be the company’s final launch event of the year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who says that Apple could unveil new iPad models and well as a new version of its smallest computer — the Mac Mini — next month.

In the latest version of his Power On newsletter, Gurman states that Apple could launch new iPad models at an event in October. One of these will be the successor to the iPad Mini (2021) that was launched three years ago, with an A15 Bionic chip. The Bloomberg journalist has not specified which processor will power the upcoming iPad Mini model.

Apple has already updated the iPad Air and iPad Pro earlier this year, powered by its M2 and M4 chips, respectively. This suggests that the company could launch new versions of the iPad Mini and the standard iPad at the purported launch event in October.

Gurman has also reiterated his previous claim that Apple will launch new Mac models at a launch event next month. One of these new models will reportedly be a Mac Mini powered by Apple’s M4 chipset, housed in a much smaller body than the existing M2-powered Mac Mini model.

Apple didn’t launch an M3 powered Mac Mini model to succeed the one powered by its M2 chip, which means that the purported successor could offer a considerable increase in performance over its predecessor.

The company will also announce updated versions of the MacBook Pro and the iMac in October, alongside the purported M4 Mac Mini, according to the journalist. These are also expected to be powered by the company’s M4 chip, which is its most powerful Apple Silicon processor to date.

Apple iMac, MacBook Pro Models With M4 Chipset Could Launch in November: Report https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/02/apple-imac-macbook-pro-models-with-m4-chipset-could-launch-in-november-report/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/02/apple-imac-macbook-pro-models-with-m4-chipset-could-launch-in-november-report/?noamp=mobile#respond Mon, 02 Sep 2024 07:05:02 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/09/02/apple-imac-macbook-pro-models-with-m4-chipset-could-launch-in-november-report/

Apple could launch its refreshed lineup of Mac models in November, according to a report. The new devices are speculated to be powered by the next-generation Apple Silicon chipset dubbed M4, which debuted with the new iPad Pro models on May 7. The Cupertino-based tech giant has been reported to introduce new variants of its iMac, MacBook Pro, and other models. While it usually holds Mac-related events in October around Halloween, it may shift to November this year.

This information comes from MacRumors, citing confidential sources, which reported about the probable November 2024 launch timeline of the upcoming Mac models.

Apple November Event Expectations

MacBook Pro, starting with the entry-level 14-inch model, is expected to get its yearly refresh. It is speculated to get upgraded from an M3 chipset to the M4, which is expected to bring benefits when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI) tasks. Meanwhile, the mid-tier and high-end MacBook Pro models will reportedly benefit from the purported M4 Pro and M4 Max SoCs, respectively.

MacRumors suggested that all the changes are expected to be hardware-related only, with minimal design overhaul.

However, that is not going to be the case for the Mac mini, as per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Apple will reportedly introduce a heavily redesigned version of its mini-computer which is said to be its “smallest ever desktop computer”. It may be slightly taller than the Apple TV streaming device and is described as “essentially an iPad Pro in a small box”.

As per Gurman, there will be two variants of the Mac mini, continuing previous trends. It may be offered with M4 and M4 Pro chips.

Chipset upgrades are also reported to be introduced with the 2024 iMac. However, similar to the MacBook Pro, Apple’s all-in-one computer is also not expected to get any notable changes to its design, but its colourways could be revised.

With these devices getting a chipset upgrade, Apple is expected to complete its transition to M4 chipsets across its entire range of devices including iPad, Mac, and MacBook.
