Chole bhature is an emotion. And when it comes to the best chole bhature, Delhi tops the list. Bhumi Pednekar agrees with us. On her latest pitstop in the National Capital, the actress embarked on “the ultimate chole bhature hunt”. In a video posted on Instagram, Bhumi and her team were seen walking on the Delhi streets under the cold winter sun. “I can’t believe that yet again I am on the streets of another city trying to find food,” she said in the clip. Bhumi’s culinary quest led her to Nirula’s — touted to be the first fast food chain in India. “I think I have come to Nirula’s after 10 years,” admitted Bhumi as she took a table and ordered chole bhature. However, disappointment struck her at the restaurant as she learned that chole bhature was not available there.

Bhumi Pednekar, a true-blue gastronomical explorer, was not deterred by the setback. She took on the streets again to satisfy her chole bhature and chole kulche cravings. And guess what? She did not fail this time. Bhumi arrived at the famous Haldiram’s to satiate her cravings. She couldn’t resist having a plate of chole kulche first. Bhumi relished crispy kulchas served with buttery and spicy chole. We also spotted sliced onions on the plate. Her smile and the shine in her eyes were proof, of how much she enjoyed the iconic street food. “I have craved this… Just the best,” confessed Bhumi. Finally, Bhumi treated her tastebuds to chole bhature. She was seen in a fun mood, playfully punching the fluffy bhature. The text in the video echoed her feeling — “Mission accomplished.” Bhumi’s side note read, “On the streets to find chole bhature.”

Replying to the post, Karan Boolani, who is known for his love for yummy spreads, said, “Lotan, Baba Nagpal, Sita ram, kulachi”. For the unversed, Bhumi and Karan Boolani’s wife, producer Rhea Kapoor, are close friends.

Bhumi Pednekar’s sister Samisha too dropped a note under the post. She said, “Yummm.”

“Chole Kulche or Chole Bhature?” asked a fan. To this Bhumi replied, “Started to chole kulcha, ended up eating bhature.”

“Try Nagpal next time,” a few suggested. “Eat momo Nepali momo,” chimed in another.

“Quite an adventure trying to find the perfect chole,” read a comment.

Bhumi Pedenakar’s culinary expedition had us craving. We are excited to see the next foodie stop on her list.

Rahul Gandhi in fresh trouble? Delhi Police registers FIR against Congress leader over Parliament scuffle https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/19/rahul-gandhi-in-fresh-trouble-delhi-police-registers-fir-against-congress-leader-over-parliament-scuffle/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/19/rahul-gandhi-in-fresh-trouble-delhi-police-registers-fir-against-congress-leader-over-parliament-scuffle/?noamp=mobile#respond Thu, 19 Dec 2024 16:12:05 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/19/rahul-gandhi-in-fresh-trouble-delhi-police-registers-fir-against-congress-leader-over-parliament-scuffle/

In fresh trouble for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Delhi Police on Thursday registered an FIR against him over a scuffle in Parliament after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lodged a complaint.

Accusing Rahul Gandhi of “physical assault and incitement” during a scuffle on Parliament premises, the BJP sought his indictment under sections of attempt to murder and other charges.

However, police have not added attempt to murder charges in the FIR.

“Police have only removed section 109 (attempt to murder) of BNS. All other sections are the same as given in the complaint,” said the Delhi police.

Earlier in the day, BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput suffered injuries after a face-off at the Parliament entry steps between the opposition and NDA MPs over the alleged insult to BR Ambedkar.

Following the incident, several BJP leaders including Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, visited the Parliament Street Police Station and filed the complaint.

Talking to reporters outside the police station, Thakur demanded a thorough investigation and an FIR under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115 (voluntary causing hurt), 117 (voluntary causing grievous hurt), 125 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS in the matter.

The Congress strongly rejected the claim, alleging that the BJP MPs pushed party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and “physically manhandled” the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

A delegation of Congress MPs, including Digvijaya Singh, Mukul Wasnik, Rajiv Shukla and Pramod Tiwari, filed the complaint visiting the station in person, an officer said.

Meanwhile, the BJP said Rahul Gandhi does not deserve to be the Leader of the Opposition after such “indecent and shameful” conduct.

“Rahul Gandhi does not deserve to hold the post of the Leader of Opposition,” said Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while addressing a press conference. Chouhan slammed the Congress leader’s behaviour and alleged that it was against India’s cultural ethos.

The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) flagship welfare schemes – direct subsidy on electricity, water and bus rides for women – in the national capital have often generated debates.

In fact, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – the two opposition parties – have promised to continue AAP governments free electricity to the residents of Delhi, if they come to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Subsidy on electricity, water and bus rides for women have been main poll plank for Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP in the last two assembly elections in 2025 and 2020 that the party won with a brute majority.

Divided into eight chapters, Shah’s book provides an in-depth account of the AAP government’s reforms in education, healthcare, air pollution, transport, electricity, and water.

The elections to the 70-member Delhi assembly are expected to be held in February next year.

How much does a household in Delhi save through AAP schemes? Families in Delhi saved 2,464 per month due to the combined policies of AAP government, a new book has revealed.

The book, “The Delhi Model: A Bold New Road Map to Building a Developed India” by senior AAP leader Jasmine Shah on the Delhi model of governance will be released in the national capital today, December 15.

“A household sample survey among 70 per cent of Delhi’s households receiving full electricity subsidy revealed that families saved as average 2,464 per month due to the combined policies of the AAP government,” reads the book published by Penguin Random House India.

“Almost 76 per cent of the families benefited from zero water bill, 65 per cent from free treatment in government hospitals, 58 per cent from free bus rides for women and 44 per cent from free public education. If one adds these savings for the entire population of Delhi, the increase in disposable income translates to an additional buying power of over 10,000 crore per annum in 2020 – a staggering value indeed,” reads the book in the chapter ‘Trickle- Down vs Trickle-Up Economics.’

‘Rights of Muslims ignored’: AAP MLA from Delhi's Seelampur Abdul Rehman resigns from party, joins Congress https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/10/rights-of-muslims-ignored-aap-mla-from-delhis-seelampur-abdul-rehman-resigns-from-party-joins-congress/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/10/rights-of-muslims-ignored-aap-mla-from-delhis-seelampur-abdul-rehman-resigns-from-party-joins-congress/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 10 Dec 2024 14:15:13 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/10/rights-of-muslims-ignored-aap-mla-from-delhis-seelampur-abdul-rehman-resigns-from-party-joins-congress/

Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday suffered another setback ahead of the assembly elections as MLA Abdul Rehman resigned from party’s primary membership.

Rehman, an MLA from Seelampur, resigned saying that the party ignored the rights of Muslims, and hours later joined Congress.

In a two-page letter posted on his X handle, Rehman said that he is resigning from the primary membership of Aam Aadmi Party.

“The party ignored the rights of Muslims by getting entangled in the politics of power. Arvind Kejriwal always did his politics by running away from the issues of the people. I will keep fighting for justice and rights.” said Abdul Rehman in a post on X.

Last month, former Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot resigned from AAP and joined the BJP in the presence of Union ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and Harsh Malhotra, Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva and national media head Anil Baluni among others.

Gahlot quit the AAP alleging “political ambitions” have overtaken the party’s commitment towards people.

“Instead of fighting for people’s rights, we have increasingly only been fighting for our own political agenda,” the 50-year-old said in his resignation letter to AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.

Gahlot, a prominent face of the AAP, also took a jab at Kejriwal as he flagged some “awkward” and “embarrassing” controversies like ‘sheeshmahal’, saying it makes everyone doubt if “we still believe in being the ‘Aam Aadmi'”.

The AAP had claimed that Gahlot’s decision was influenced by cases being probed against him by central agencies.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday announced its second list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls, fielding senior party leader Manish Sisodia from the Jangpura seat.

Educator Avadh Ojha, who recently joined the AAP, has been fielded from the Patparganj seat, which is held by Sisodia in the current assembly.

The list also includes the names of Jintender Singh Shunty (fielded from Shahdara) and Surinder Pal Singh Bittu (Timarpur), who recently quit the BJP to join the AAP.

BJP shares inside visuals of former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's bungalow: ‘Special common man built glass palace’ — WATCH https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/10/bjp-shares-inside-visuals-of-former-delhi-cm-arvind-kejriwals-bungalow-special-common-man-built-glass-palace-watch/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/10/bjp-shares-inside-visuals-of-former-delhi-cm-arvind-kejriwals-bungalow-special-common-man-built-glass-palace-watch/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 10 Dec 2024 09:03:42 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/10/bjp-shares-inside-visuals-of-former-delhi-cm-arvind-kejriwals-bungalow-special-common-man-built-glass-palace-watch/

In the latest controversy, the Bharatiya Janata Party hit out at Arvind Kejriwal over his lavish bungalow, calling it a ‘glass palace’ built with looted public funds. The party shared video snippets of the AAP supremo and former Delhi CM’s house and slammed him, saying that a “special common man built this glass palace”.

The BJP said, “By looting the hard-earned money of the people of Delhi, a ‘special’ common man built this glass palace!”

“Look at the splendour of Kejriwal’s glass palace. He said that he would not take a car, bungalow, or security,” it also added.

“Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ is ‘blot on democracy’

Meanwhile, MP Praveen Khandelwal also slammed the former Delhi CM and called the residence a ‘blot on democracy’.

“Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ has put a blot on the democracy of the country… The ‘Sheesh Mahal’ has demolished the narrative of ‘Aam Aadmi’ set by Arvind Kejriwal..,” he said.

The reaction came after the BJP state president Virendraa Sachdeva released the video, claiming to show the interiors of AAP National Convenor and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house.

Earlier today, Sachdeva, while speaking to ANI, accused Arvind Kejriwal of corruption, alleging that Kejriwal’s official residence, dubbed “Sheesh Mahal”, is a symbol of ill-gotten wealth.

Sachdeva also labelled the Kejriwal government as a “government of scams” that has brought shame to Delhi.

‘It is the ‘sheesh mahal’ which he wanted to hide from the people of Delhi. We have shown the first video of it. Look at the bathroom and the gym of that house. There are granites and equipment, look at the sauna and jacuzzi baths, like that of a 7-star resort. This is the reality of the black money hoarded by Arvind Kejriwal who calls himself a common man. He has to answer why he wanted to hide his house and hide the key to the house. It is not a CM residence, it is a museum of corruption. They should open it for the people. I challenge him to open the doors of this palace and tell the people of Delhi how he has fooled them… This is a government of scams. They have shamed Delhi,” he said.

BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat alleged that 42 crore of public funds were used to decorate the interior of the house, implying that Arvind Kejriwal has committed a massive fraud against the people of Delhi.

“AAP leaders should be ashamed that when the nation was going through Covid, they were making ‘Sheesh Mahal’. 42 crore belonging to the people of Delhi have been used in the interiors of that house… Arvind Kejriwal has committed a huge fraud with the people of Delhi…,” she said

Dozens of schools in Delhi get bomb threats: report https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/09/dozens-of-schools-in-delhi-get-bomb-threats-report/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/09/dozens-of-schools-in-delhi-get-bomb-threats-report/?noamp=mobile#respond Mon, 09 Dec 2024 17:50:22 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/12/09/dozens-of-schools-in-delhi-get-bomb-threats-report/

At least 40 schools received a bomb threat by email in Delhi on Monday demanding $30,000, ANI news agency said, while police officials conducted initial searches on school premises.

Schools, railway stations and airports this year have been subject to hundreds of bomb threats, which have later turned out to be hoaxes.

Airlines and airports in India received 999 hoax bomb threats from the start of the year until mid-November, and 12 people had been arrested during the same period, government data shows.

Two schools got the threatening email on Sunday night, which said multiple bombs were planted inside buildings and would be detonated if the sender was not paid $30,000, according to ANI.

Many other schools received the emails on Monday morning, prompting school authorities to call parents to take the students home for the day.

Parents were seen picking their children up from the gates of some schools as police checked school premises for suspicious items.

Police officials in Delhi did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

In May, more than 50 schools in Delhi and the adjoining suburb of Noida received similar bomb threat emails that turned out to be hoaxes.

Avadh Ojha, a renowned UPSC coaching teacher, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday in the presence of former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. Hours later, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared an old video of the UPSC teacher and motivational speaker, in which he criticised Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP.

In the video, Ojha, founder of IQRA IAS Coaching in Pune, describes the party convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s appearance, wearing a torn shirt, slippers and a muffler.

Arvind Kejriwal, shirt bahar kie hue, shirt fati hai, chappal pehne, muffler bandhe. Keh rahe Bharat mein badha corruption hai, aur main corruption hataunga (Arvind Kejriwal, wearing a torn shirt, slippers, and muffler, vowed to reduce corruption),” Avadh Ojha says in the video shared by BJP on X.

He also took a jibe at Kejriwal, referencing the Delhi government’s liquor policy and comparing it to AAP’s past criticism of the BJP government for its liquor policy in Gujarat.

Pehle bolte the Modiji sharab Gujarat mein illegal bechte the, fir pata chala ki paisa toh sharab se hi ata hai. Fir Punjab election ladhna tha, isne Delhi mein bech di (Earlier, he used to say Modiji is selling illegal liquor in Gujarat. Now, when he got to know that actual money comes from liquor and AAP has to contest Punjab elections, he sold it in Delhi),” Ojha says in the video.

Avadh Ojha joins AAP

Ojha, popularly known as Ojha ‘Sir’ among UPSC aspirants, is a civil service coaching teacher and motivational speaker. While joining AAP on Monday, he highlighted that his main aim in joining politics is to work in the field of education.

“Education is a medium that forms the soul of our families, the fabric of our society, and the bedrock of our nation. All great nations across the world have had education as a cornerstone of their progress,” Ojha said after joining the party.

“I want to thank Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia for giving me a chance to work in the field of education in politics,” he added.

AAP chief Kejriwal said that Ojha’s joining the party will strengthen its efforts to improve the education system.

“Whenever we welcome a new leader into the AAP, we often say that their presence will strengthen the party. Today, I would like to say that Avadh Ojha’s entry into politics will strengthen the entire education system in the country,” Kejriwal said.

Ojha began his teaching career in 2005 and specialises in teaching History.

Kailash Gahlot's exit to BJP a game-changer for AAP ahead of Delhi Elections? https://thenewshub.in/2024/11/19/kailash-gahlots-exit-to-bjp-a-game-changer-for-aap-ahead-of-delhi-elections/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/11/19/kailash-gahlots-exit-to-bjp-a-game-changer-for-aap-ahead-of-delhi-elections/?noamp=mobile#respond Tue, 19 Nov 2024 09:14:18 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/11/19/kailash-gahlots-exit-to-bjp-a-game-changer-for-aap-ahead-of-delhi-elections/

Kailash Gahlot resigns from AAP, joins BJP: The sudden resignation of Kailash Gahlot, a senior leader and minister in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has sent shockwaves through AAP, creating a major political vacuum just months before the highly anticipated Delhi Assembly elections.

Although whispers of Kailash Gahlot’s departure had been circulating since the Lok Sabha elections, his formal exit has ignited renewed uncertainty within AAP’s ranks. His decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) raises questions about the party’s future, especially in light of the strategic importance Gahlot once held.

Kailash Gahlot’s Political Journey, Impact on AAP

Kailash Gahlot, who served as the Minister for several key portfolios including Transport, Women and Child Development (WCD), Home, Administrative Reforms, and Information Technology (IT), was considered one of AAP’s most trusted figures.

His resignation is seen as a major blow to the party, particularly as he was widely regarded as a critical backroom operator and a key architect of several of Delhi’s flagship welfare schemes.

Kailash Gahlot, who represented the Najafgarh constituency, had a reputation for bridging local issues with larger policy initiatives.

Since joining AAP in 2015, Gahlot quickly became a prominent face of the party, particularly among Jaat voters. He was instrumental in AAP’s rise in the Najafgarh region, winning the assembly seat in both 2015 and 2020, the latter by a significantly larger margin.

Setback for AAP’s Welfare Schemes for Delhi?

One of the most significant implications of Kailash Gahlot’s departure is the uncertainty surrounding several high-profile welfare schemes that he was overseeing. As the minister responsible for the “Mahila Samman Rashi” project, Gahlot was central to its planning and implementation. This project, which aims to provide 1,000 per month to women aged 18 and above, was touted as one of the flagship schemes of the Delhi government for the upcoming elections.

Kailash Gahlot had been personally involved in pushing the scheme forward, holding meetings with officials to ensure its timely execution.

With his exit, concerns have mounted about the fate of such projects. Gahlot’s role in implementing other major schemes such as the “Pink Pass”, “Mukhyamantri Tirath Yatra Yojana”, and the “Electric Vehicle Policy” were also pivotal to the party’s image as a progressive, welfare-oriented organisation.

Resentment Towards AAP Leadership

The circumstances leading to Kailash Gahlot’s resignation also point to deepening discontent within AAP’s senior leadership. According to Indian Express, people within the party suggest that Gahlot had been unhappy with his treatment by the leadership for some time, especially after he was overlooked for key positions.

After the resignation of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and the subsequent vacancy of six major portfolios, Kailash Gahlot was initially entrusted with the Finance Ministry. However, this was short-lived, as AAP chose Atishi to handle most of the crucial departments, including Law and Revenue, leaving Kailash Gahlot feeling sidelined.

Kailash Gahlot had been seen as one of the potential successors for key positions within AAP but was passed over, leading to growing frustration.

Gahlot’s To Contest on Delhi BJP Ticket From Najafgarh Seat?

As Gahlot transitions into the BJP fold, there are already speculations that he will contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections from his stronghold, Najafgarh, reports Indian Express citing AAP sources.
