A Florida amputee known as “Lieutenant Dan” who was riding high for virally claiming he was refusing to leave his small home boat ahead of Hurricane Milton has now been arrested for failing to leave a park-side dock, the Tampa Police Department tells Fox News Digital.

Police say that Joseph Malinowski, 54, did not have an accessible device to discharge sewage from his unregistered vessel and did not have a record of proper disposal of waste, which was creating a public health hazard.

Malinowski failed to move after “numerous warnings” and was arrested at around 7:30 a.m. Friday at Bayshore Linear Park and Dock. Officers said they had met with Malinowski the day before when he was instructed to leave the park.

VIRAL TAMPA SENSATION ‘LIEUTENANT DAN,’ WHO RODE OUT HURRICANE MILTON IN BOAT, DESCRIBES HOW HE SURVIVED

A Florida amputee known as “Lieutenant Dan” who was riding high for virally claiming he was refusing to leave his small home boat ahead of Hurricane Milton has now been arrested for failing to leave a park-side dock, the Tampa Police Department tells Fox News Digital.  (Fox News Digital, main, Tampa Police Department, inset.)

Malinowski was taken into custody on Friday and transported to Orient Road Jail. The unregistered vessel was impounded.

He’s being charged with two outstanding warrants for failure to appear and one misdemeanor charge of trespassing in a city park after warning, police say.

Malinowski’s occupation was listed as “TIK TOK STAR” while his arrest inquiry lists him as unemployed, per WTSB. A representative for Malinowski tells TMZ that his team is working to bail out the viral sensation.

Malinowski’s “Lieutenant Dan” nickname appears to have come from his resemblance to the “Forrest Gump” character with the same name, played by actor Gary Sinise. Malinowski is missing part of his left leg and uses crutches to get around.

He went viral for claiming he would ride out Hurricane Milton earlier this month in his 20-foot-long boat as the storm barreled towards Tampa.

Despite pleas from local residents, law enforcement officials and the mayor of Tampa, Jane Castor, to leave and seek shelter, Malinowski chose to stay put with his boat tied to Bayshore Boulevard near Tampa General Hospital. He also rode out Hurricane Helene in the same boat.

However, the mayor of Tampa, Jane Castor, said he had been taken to a shelter before the storm hit. Live TikTok feeds and news interviews indicated he was still on the boat refusing to leave the vessel.

Malinowski told Fox News Digital after the storm had passed that he “wasn’t going anywhere.”

“I never planned on leaving. The storm didn’t scare me because I didn’t see it. I didn’t write it. I didn’t make it happen.”

“It’s a boat,” he said. “You keep the water out of the boat, you’ll be fine.”

Malinowski had previously caught the attention of TikToker Adin Ross, who offered to purchase “Lieutenant Dan” a $50,000-$100,000 boat and initiated a full-time live stream TikTok deal where Malinowski could document his “voyages” and produce income for the lone sailor via social media.

However, Ross rescinded the offer when he found Malinowski’s lengthy criminal record, which includes arrests for hitting a police officer and allegedly trying to set a woman on fire, according to the New York Post.

“He offered it to me. I never asked for it,” Malinowski told one TikToker who recorded him live. “If you’re worried about your image and who you have working for you, you should have done your due diligence and looked me up before you made me an offer of $100,000 sign-on bonus, $50,000 a month with a $100,000 boat.”

His other past charges include drug possession, attempted breaking and entering and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to the New York Post.

Despite backlash, Malinowski said he plans to ride out all future Tampa hurricanes in his boat, though the New York Post reported an open case in which the boat’s ownership came into question.

Malinowski said as Milton inflicted damage upon Tampa Bay and “cosmetic damage” to the boat, he started talking to God and meditating.

During meditation, Malinowski told Fox News Digital, he envisioned a ring around him that he believed might have protected him from striking the channel’s wall. When he became distracted from meditation, he said he thrashed against the dock again, causing more damage.

  • Delhi Police arrested Yadav on Dec 18 in Indian capital.
  • Indictment says he worked with people to kill Pannun.
  • Yadav still in India, US expects to seek his extradition.

A former Indian government official charged in the United States this week for allegedly directing a foiled murder plot had been arrested in New Delhi in December in an attempted murder case, according to court records and a police officer.

The US Justice Department unsealed the indictment of Vikash Yadav, 39, on Thursday, alleging he led a plot to murder a Sikh separatist in New York.

From May 2023, the US indictment alleges, Yadav, described as an Indian government employee at the time, worked with others in India and abroad to direct a plot to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a dual US-Canadian citizen.

Delhi Police had arrested Yadav on December 18 in the Indian capital, the police officer told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Yadav and an associate were charged with attempted murder and other crimes, according to a filing in a Delhi district court.

Yadav’s lawyer, RK Handoo, called the Indian charges “fallacious”, adding there was “an international plot to bring shame on the government of India and my client”.

Handoo declined to comment further.

He and the police did not respond to questions on Yadav’s whereabouts. The Washington Post, citing American officials, reported on Thursday that Yadav was still in India and that the US was expected to seek his extradition.

Yadav’s arrest was based on a complaint by an Indian businessman, who alleged Yadav and an associate kidnapped him in December, assaulted and robbed him, according to details in a Delhi district court order dated Feb. 23.

“The accused persons tortured and manhandled the complainant and demanded money in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi,” said the February 23 court order, summarising the complaint.

Bishnoi, in jail in India’s Gujarat state, is an organised crime gang leader, according to India’s National Investigation Agency.

Bishnoi’s lawyer says he is contesting more than 40 cases on charges including murder and extortion, with many trials yet to begin.

Indian government agents were separately accused by Canada this week of having links to Bishnoi’s gang and running a campaign to target Indian dissidents in Canada. India’s government denies the allegations.

In Yadav’s Delhi case, the court order citing the complaint said: “The accused persons also brought bank cheque book from the cafe of the complainant and got his signature on blank cheques and later on dropped him near his car, threatening to remain silent.”

Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy had been on holiday with the singer in the days before his death.

The One Direction singer was found dead, aged 31, in a hotel courtyard in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at around 5pm local time on Wednesday (16 October) after he sustained “extremely serious injuries” from a fall from a balcony on the third floor.

Payne was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities will now perform an autopsy and investigate the cause of death.

Follow live updates and tributes following the death of Liam Payne here.

In the days before his death, his girlfriend of two years, 25-year-old Cassidy, had joined him on his trip to Argentina, and the pair had been documenting their trip together online.

Cassidy, who is a social media influencer, had been on the trip with Payne for two weeks before she decided to return home to her Florida home.

In a vlog posted on her TikTok account two days before Payne’s death, Cassidy said she was “so ready to leave” Buenos Aires after their five day trip had turned into a two week long holiday.

“I honestly loved South America but I hate staying in one place for too long,” she said. “We were supposed to stay for five days but it turned into two weeks and I was just like ‘I need to go home.’”

She remarked that the seat number she had been given on her flight home was “1D” – the shortened name for One Direction – and Cassidy told the camera, “I swear this happens every single time I fly”.

When she arrived back in Miami, she said she was “relieved” and “so happy” to be home, before recording herself ordering a bagel and going to bed.

Cassidy, who was born in New Jersey, works as an influencer with more than 250,000 followers on Instagram and more than 300,000 on TikTok.

When their relationship began, Cassidy claimed in a TikTok video that she had “manifested” her relationship with the One Direction star when she was just 10 years old.

“I am the best manifester, and I’m going to show you why,” Cassidy began the clip, which was posted in November 2023.

She then showed that she had drawn an image of Payne onto a “popsicle stick” aged 10.

“And somehow 10 years later,” Cassidy said, before opening the door to her childhood bedroom and revealing the real-life Payne lounging on her bed.

The couple smile together at the end of the clip as she says: “Be careful what you wish for!”

“The power of manifesting, I guess,” she captioned the post, and used One Direction’s 2014 hit “Night Changes” as the backing music.

The beginning of Liam Payne and Kate Cassidy’s relationship

She began dating the One Direction singer in 2022, and the pair were pictured together for the first time wearing Halloween costumes, with the influencer dressing up as Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, while Payne wore a white tank top to transform into Anderson’s ex-husband Tommy Lee.

Two months later, in December 2022, they made their red carpet debut together at the British Fashion Awards in London.

Cassidy had also been Payne’s guest at the UK premiere of One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson’s documentary All Of Those Voices.

The couple had documented their various travels together, having visited Dubai, New York, Italy, Spain and France on several occasions.

In the days before Payne’s death, the pair had been sharing happy moments from their Argentina stay.

In a video shared on his Snapchat profile, Payne can be seen sitting at his hotel’s breakfast table, joking with Cassidy about leaving her hat on the table. “Lovely day in Argentina,” the video was captioned.

“It’s a lovely day here in Argentina,” he said in the video. “This is the breakfast table. Just enjoying coffee and breakfast even though it’s 1 pm.”

Cassidy had shared pictures of the pair horse riding together, captioning the post: “I am very grateful for the simple things in life.”

In another post, Payne posed with Cassidy for a selfie with the caption, “Quality time” and teased a Halloween costume idea with a photo of himself sitting on a chair. It was captioned: “Halloween costume idea: Forest Gump.”

Payne’s final Snapchat story was a photo of himself and Cassidy in swimsuits, one that Cassidy had posted on Instagram in August 2023 to mark his 30th birthday.

While officials are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding Payne’s death, Buenos Aires police said in a statement he died after he fell from a hotel balcony on the third floor.

Earlier this month, Payne reportedly shared a Snapchat saying he was travelling to Argentina in part to see his former bandmate Niall Horan play a show there.

“It’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken,” he said. “We’ve got a lot to talk about and I would like to square up a couple of things with the boy. No bad vibes or nothing like that but we just need to talk,” he said.

Hezbollah fires rocket salvo at northern Israel, Iranian leader vows 'Axis of Resistance' will continue https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/19/hezbollah-fires-rocket-salvo-at-northern-israel-iranian-leader-vows-axis-of-resistance-will-continue/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/19/hezbollah-fires-rocket-salvo-at-northern-israel-iranian-leader-vows-axis-of-resistance-will-continue/?noamp=mobile#respond Sat, 19 Oct 2024 12:31:42 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/19/hezbollah-fires-rocket-salvo-at-northern-israel-iranian-leader-vows-axis-of-resistance-will-continue/

Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets into northern Israel, including near the city of Haifa, on Saturday after the Israeli military said more than 100 projectiles crossed into Israel from Lebanon.

The Lebanese terror group said its “large salvo” of rockets hit a military base east of Haifa, AFP News reported. The Israel Defense Forces said approximately 180 projectiles were fired by Hezbollah, which has vowed to escalate its war against Israel after IDF strikes killed senior Hezbollah leaders.

“The IDF will continue to defend the State of Israel and its people against the threat posed by the Hezbollah terrorist organization,” the IDF said in a statement.

At least five people suffered shrapnel injuries in Kiryat Ata, in the city of Haifa, the emergency service provider Magen David Adom said, according to AFP.

A rocket reportedly damaged a three-story building and burned two cars in Kiryat Ata, the outlet said.

The Saturday attacks followed after a UAV was launched towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home in the coastal city of Caesarea.

Netanyahu and his wife were not home when the incident happened, his spokesperson told Fox News. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Iran-backed Hezbollah has stepped up its attacks on Israel in recent weeks after the IDF successfully sabotaged the terror group’s electronic communications and killed its senior leaders, including Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and his replacement.

Israel struck another great blow against Iran’s proxy groups this week with the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Hezbollah and Hamas, along with other proxy groups, comprise an “Axis of Resistance” that Iran has used to oppose Israel and the U.S. and wield power in the Middle East for decades.

Speaking on Saturday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Sinwar’s death would not stop the “Axis of Resistance” and that Hamas would live on.

“His loss is undoubtedly painful for the Axis of Resistance, but this front did not cease advancing with the martyrdom of prominent figures,” Khamenei said in a statement. “Hamas is alive and will remain alive.”

SINWAR’S RUTHLESS BROTHER MOHAMMED SLATED TO TAKE OVER AS LEADER OF HAMAS

Sinwar, the architect of Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel that triggered the war in Gaza, was killed on Wednesday in a gunfight with Israeli forces after a year-long manhunt, and his death was announced on Thursday.

“He was a shining face of resistance and struggle. With a steely resolve, he stood against the oppressive and aggressive enemy. With wisdom and courage, he dealt them the irreparable blow of October 7 that has been recorded in the history of this region. Then, with honor and pride, he ascended to the heavens of the martyrs,” said Khamenei.

  • Jamia Nagar overflowing due to increased influx of Muslims.
  • LSE professor blames increasing Islamophobia for segregation.
  • Experts point out significant increase in anti-Muslim hate speech.

NEW DELHI: Muslims living in India’s capital New Delhi have been congregating in enclaves away from the nation’s Hindu majority, seeking safety in numbers following the deadly 2020 riots and an increase in anti-Muslim hate speech.

Nasreen and her husband Tofik are one such couple who were residing in Shiv Vihar, an upcoming neighbourhood in northeast New Delhi, however, the February 2020 riots then saw Muslims being targeted wherein Tofik — as per a police report he filed days later from hospital — was pushed by a mob from the second floor of the building where they lived.

He survived, but has a permanent limp and was only able to return to work selling clothes on the street after spending nearly three years recuperating.

Soon after the riots the couple moved to Loni, a more remote area with poorer infrastructure and job prospects – but with a sizable Muslim population.

“I will not go back to that area. I feel safer among Muslims,” Tofik, who like his wife goes by one name, told Reuters.

The news agency interviewed about two dozen people, who highlighted the congregation of Muslim population away from Hindus.

Details about this phenomenon, which has led a major Muslim neighbourhood in Delhi to effectively run out of space, have not previously been reported.

There is no official data on segregation in India, whose long-delayed census also means that there are few reliable figures on how much Muslim enclaves have grown in the past decade. Muslims comprise about 14% of India’s 1.4 billion people.

Ground zero in Delhi is the central neighbourhood of Jamia Nagar, which has long been a temporary sanctuary for Muslims when communal riots break out.

With ever more Muslims flocking in, the neighbourhood is overflowing, despite a boom in construction, according to 10 local leaders, including politicians, activists and clergy, as well as five real-estate agents.

“No matter how brave a Muslim might be, they feel they have to move because if a mob comes, how brave can you really be?” said Raes Khan, a real estate agent in South Delhi who said Muslim clients now almost exclusively demand homes in Muslim-majority areas like Jamia Nagar.

Segregation nationally has increased significantly in the past decade, said London School of Economics political anthropologist Raphael Susewind, who has overseen long-term fieldwork on India’s Muslim population.

Rising Islamophobia under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which came into power in 2014, is a “key driver” of the trend, he said.

Six Muslim community leaders said significant anecdotal evidence supported Susewind’s assertion that segregation has increased.

Jamia Nagar clergyman Md Sahil said the number of attendees at his mosque’s early morning prayers had more than doubled to over 450 in the past four to five years, and that it reflected the overall rise in population there.

In response to Reuters’ questions, Jamal Siddiqui, a senior BJP official for minority affairs, suggested that poorer Muslims might choose to live in segregated areas because such neighbourhoods tend to be more affordable. “Educated Muslims leave the area and settle in developed areas with mixed population,” he said.

However, Syed Sayeed Hasan, a Congress party worker in Jamia Nagar, said a big push factor for sectarian cloistering in Delhi was the 2020 riot.

More than 200 were injured and at least 53 people, mostly Muslim, were killed in protests after PM Modi’s Hindu nationalist government moved to introduce a law that made it easier for many non-Muslims to become citizens.

A 2020 Delhi government report blamed the riots on BJP leaders who made speeches that called for violence against protesters. At the time, the party said the allegations were baseless and that law enforcement had said there was no proof one of the leaders blamed in the report was responsible.

The Delhi government, controlled by the opposition Aam Aadmi Party, did not respond to requests for comment.

Hate speech on rise

India’s National Crime Records Bureau, a government agency that collects and analyses crime data, doesn’t keep records of targeted violence against communities.

It said the average number of annual riots with communal origins had fallen about 9% between 2014 and 2022 as compared to the previous nine years when the Congress party ran India.

But independent experts at the Center for the Study of Organised Hate, a Washington-based think-tank, have documented a significant increase in anti-Muslim hate speech, from 255 incidents in the first half of 2023 to 413 in the second half of 2023. The BJP politicians and affiliate groups were key to the trend, the think-tank said.

Reuters has previously reported about how right-wing “cow vigilantes,” some of whom have ties to the BJP, have led lynch mobs against Muslims.

PM Modi, while campaigning in April for a third term as premier, attacked Muslims as “infiltrators” who had “more children,” implying they were a threat to India’s Hindu majority.

The BJP’s Siddiqui added that the PM was referring to undocumented immigrants like Rohingya Muslims whom he alleged “are living in India and are also weakening India.”

When previously asked about alleged anti-Muslim bias, the BJP government has said it does not discriminate and that many of its anti-poverty programs have benefited Muslims, who are among the poorest groups in India.

The BJP could only form a fragile coalition government after national election results were announced in June. In the immediate aftermath, at least eight anti-Muslim lynching incidents were reported, the non-governmental Association for Protection of Civil Rights said on July 5.

Safety in numbers

Jamia Nagar is a bustling cluster of alleyways behind Jamia Millia Islamia, a Muslim university that was an epicentre of the 2020 protests. It anchors an area of southeast Delhi that has many Muslim neighbourhoods and a population of about 150,000, according to state election data.

When Reuters visited the cramped alleyways of the enclave on a sweltering summer day, they were framed by five-storey buildings. Developers had added three storeys to what were many two-storey buildings to cater to the increase in demand, two real estate agents said. In a sign of booming growth, there were also dozens of newly built kindergartens set up in the narrow lanes of the area.

Most Muslim enclaves are not as well-developed. A 2023 study from British, American and Indian economists that analysed 1.5 million Indian areas found that public services like water and schools were comparatively rare in neighbourhoods popular with Muslims and that children in such areas often face educational disadvantages.

After Tofik and Nasreen moved to Loni following Tofik’s assault, their income halved, with Tofik only able to work reduced hours.

Nasreen’s 16-year-old daughter, Muskan, suffered. The school in the outskirts of Delhi was under-resourced, Muskan said, and she missed her classmates. After feeling that the new school wasn’t for her, she dropped out.

But Nasreen doesn’t regret the move. “I will never go back. I have lost faith in them,” she said, of the neighbours who she said formed part of the mob that pushed her husband.

Reuters could not independently verify her claim but Sam Sundar, a 44-year-old Hindu resident of Nasreen’s old neighbourhood, said both Hindus and Muslims suffered during the riots, which he blamed on outside perpetrators.

But he acknowledged that Muslims bore the brunt: “Very few Muslims now live in the area. This is not a good thing.”

Nasreen’s neighbour Malika also moved to the outskirts after her husband was killed in the 2020 riots. But she was unable to find a job and now also lives part-time at a small room in another neighbourhood with more Hindu residents, where she is close to construction sites where she does odd jobs.

“Here I am afflicted with poverty, there I’m afflicted with insecurity,” said Malika.

Enclaves have also drawn upper middle-class Muslim families, who used to be more comfortable living in mixed areas, said Raes, the real estate agent.

“People feel it is better to live in separate areas rather than having a constant threat to life and property from members of the other community,” said Mujahid Nafees, a Muslim leader from Modi’s home state of Gujarat, which hosts India’s largest Muslim enclave of some 400,000.

A new mother has addressed the viral criticism she received after finding 17 dirty diapers in her home.

Hannah, who goes by the username @nurshannahbh on TikTok, recently spoke to People about her candid video on parenting. In the clip, which has more than six million views, the mother of two was seen collecting all of the 17 “dirty diapers lying around her house” after just one day, noting she didn’t own a diaper pail. She also admitted how “embarrassing” it was that the diapers were scattered throughout the house.

In the viral video, Hannah walked around her entire house as she picked up diapers from the coffee table, behind the couch, and on the bedroom floor. “No wonder my house freaking stinks right now,” she said.

Viewers in the comments were quick to criticize the mother, claiming her content was “not relatable” and that they were “confused” about why she left dirty diapers around her home.

However, Hannah explained that she never expected it her video to go viral. She also only made the clip to show how shocked she was by the amount of dirty diapers in her home. “I don’t think I realized how many diapers I had changed that day. I just pulled out my phone and filmed a funny video,” she explained to People.  “I didn’t think it was going to be controversial or honestly attract attention whatsoever.”

According to Hannah, who welcomed her second child one month ago, “99 percent” of the initial attention towards her video was negative. Although she was “a little embarrassed” by the backlash, she tried not to take it to heart. “Those people judging me don’t actually see what goes on inside my house,” she said.

She went on to defend herself as a parent, adding: “Yes, there were 17 diapers around my house but [viewers] didn’t see me coloring with my son, while breastfeeding my newborn at the same time. They didn’t see me taking my son to the park, pushing him on the swing, while holding my newborn.”

Hannah also noted that in the comments of her video, some people criticized her husband for not taking care of their newborn. However, she clarified that she wasn’t upset at her husband, as he was taking an overnight trip that she knew about. “My husband had a planned hunting trip for over a year. He was gone for one day. We both agreed that I could manage the kids,” she explained.

Despite some of the criticism in the comments, other people sent Hannah messages of support. They also detailed how they could relate to her experience, and hit back at the backlash she faced for not cleaning her house.

“That’s 17 times your sweet babies were prioritized over your house. It’s 17 times your sweet babies were cleaned and felt comforted and loved. Being a mom is hard. You got this momma!” one person commented.

“[Postpartum] is so hard and doing it alone is crazy, no one should ever judge a mother freshly PP in my opinion. Thank you for keeping those babies clean and well fed, you’re doing amazing,” another added.

“I know those babies are clean, dry, happy, and fed. So good for you mama! You are doing amazing with two babies alone!” a third wrote.

In a follow-up video, Hannah responded to the praise, revealing that she had scrolled through other TikTok videos made by mothers who also had dirty diapers around their house. “Ten thousand negative judgmental comments on one video and countless shaming videos don’t compare to the support I feel watching the 17 diapers trend,” she wrote in the text over the clip.

The Independent has contacted Hannah for comment.

IAEA releases 2024 climate change and nuclear power report https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/19/iaea-releases-2024-climate-change-and-nuclear-power-report/ https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/19/iaea-releases-2024-climate-change-and-nuclear-power-report/?noamp=mobile#respond Sat, 19 Oct 2024 06:30:17 +0000 https://thenewshub.in/2024/10/19/iaea-releases-2024-climate-change-and-nuclear-power-report/

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has released the 2024 edition of its Climate Change and Nuclear Power report, emphasizing the need for a substantial increase in investments to meet global nuclear power expansion targets.

This report was unveiled on the sidelines of the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) held in Brazil.

Amid growing global interest in nuclear energy as a means to enhance energy security and achieve decarbonization, the report indicates that nuclear power is set to play a crucial role in reaching net zero emissions by 2050. According to the IAEA’s high case scenario, global nuclear power capacity could expand by 2.5 times its current level by mid-century.

The report calls for a sharp rise in global investment in nuclear energy, suggesting a requirement of $125 billion annually—significantly up from the $50 billion per year invested from 2017 to 2023. For those countries aiming to triple their nuclear capacity by 2050, as pledged at COP28, the investment would need to reach at least $150 billion annually.

IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi highlighted the challenges of financing nuclear projects, particularly in market-driven economies and developing nations. He noted that both private sector involvement and support from multilateral development banks are essential for making nuclear energy investments more accessible to these countries.

The report also focuses on strategies to unlock private sector funding, an area gaining significant attention. Last month, during New York Climate Week, 14 major financial institutions, including some of the largest global banks, expressed their interest in financing new nuclear projects.

At the report’s launch event, organized alongside the CEM’s Nuclear Innovation: Clean Energy Future (NICE) initiative, Jean-Francois Garnier, Head of the CEM Secretariat, emphasized the importance of making clean energy, including nuclear power, more affordable and accessible to accelerate global energy transitions.

Discussions at the event involved stakeholders from various countries and organizations, including the International Energy Agency (IEA) and representatives from the U.S., focusing on capital investment strategies for nuclear power. Attention also turned towards COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, where financing the clean energy transition will be a key topic.

Sylvia Beyer, Senior Energy Policy Analyst at the IEA, stressed the urgency of expanding nuclear capacity by 2035 to meet climate goals. She pointed out the need for robust financing mechanisms that support the development of workforce and supply chains essential for scaling nuclear power.

The report concludes by advocating for policy reforms, international collaborations, and regulatory frameworks to bridge the financing gap for nuclear power expansion, particularly in emerging markets and developing economies.
