Law Roach, a celebrity stylist, recently shared his feelings for his long-time client Celine Dion. 

While having a conversation on SiriusXM’s Bevelations with Bevy Smith, Roach got candid and shared how putting Dion on fashion’s radar changed his life. 

For those unversed, Roach styled the My Heart Will Go On singer for the 2023 Paris Haute Couture fashion parade in a Titanic sweatshirt by Vetements, which was emblazoned with Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt, pairing it with skinny distressed jeans and gold sandals.

Per THR, Roach’s efforts won the heart of the songstress as she articulated, “Law has changed me 65 times a day, but one of my favorites was the Titanic sweatshirt.”

Now, reminiscing on his efforts, Roach said it was a turning point of his career as “it definitely changed people’s perception of her and it changed the trajectory of my career.”

Celine changed my life. Giving me that opportunity to change my life,” he highlighted, giving credit of his success to Dion. 

“I had the idea to put her in the Titanic sweatshirt because this year marks the movie’s 20th anniversary. I thought it would be so cool, but I was afraid she’d think it was corny. When I actually pulled it out and showed it to her, Celine snatched it up and threw it on. She was like, ‘Man, this is cool,’” he added. 

Moreover, following the show, Dion told Hollywood Reported, saying, “My mother saw me [wearing the sweatshirt] and she said, ‘Oh my god, this is way too big for you!’ Since when are you wearing clothes that are too big for you?’ She did not understand that it was cool!” 

The I’m Alive hitmaker has admitted that she is “incredibly proud” of her efforts on Titanic’s track “My Heart Will Go On,” as it aided her in reaching where she is today.

It is pertinent to mention that Roach also works with Ariana Grande and Zendaya, who is considered a budding style icon and helped her launch her Daya shoe collection.

Novak Djokovic booked his spot in the US Open semifinals with an emphatic victory over American Taylor Fritz on Tuesday.

The world No. 2 looked his assured self, rapid around the court and hitting winners from all manners of angles, in his 6-1 6-4 6-4 win.

Fritz did show glimpses of why he’s being tipped as part of tennis’ next generation of star players, but he was not able to hold out in the face of Djokovic’s constant pressure.

Victory ensured that Djokovic’s hopes of winning a 24th grand slam title remain alive, as he seeks to equal Margaret Court’s outright record and extend his own men’s record.

Djokovic will face another American in the final four, taking on the winner of Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton, but he was eager to just enjoy the feeling of making yet another grand slam semifinal.

Clearly in a jubilant mood after securing his victory, Djokovic led the crowd in a singalong of the Beastie Boys’ classic ‘Fight For Your Right.’

“I am drenched in sweat. I saw Taylor change shirt a couple of times, it was very humid conditions,” Djokovic said in his on-court interview when asked about the conditions inside the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“Difficult to play, but that is why we train and try to get ourselves in the best conditions to deliver. Not easy but you have to fight, as the song says, you have to fight for your right to party.”

The Serb is in the United States for the first time since 2021 due to his unvaccinated status, but made up for lost time by immediately returning to winning ways at the Cincinnati Open ahead of the US Open, beating Carlos Alcaraz in a memorable final.

Djokovic has continued to look ominous throughout the tournament in New York and the quarterfinal was another stage on which he produced some remarkable tennis.

“I like the energy and the atmosphere on the court here. I thrive on that energy, whatever the energy is, use it as a fuel to try and play my best tennis,” Djokovic added.

“I have been playing on this court for so many years, so many epic matches. I can’t wait for another one in a few days time.”

Djokovic raced into a one-set lead against world No. 9 Fritz in just 43 minutes, producing some magical returns and excellent service games.

Fritz, 25, showed grit to work his way back into the match and went toe-to-toe with the tennis great in the second set. However, despite Fritz’s best efforts, a break early in the set allowed Djokovic to take a firm grip of the tie.

Fritz, who is enjoying his best run at his home grand slam, continued to grow into the game and gave Djokovic a stern test in the third set.

The American earned multiple break points against the 36-year-old, but Djokovic continued to produce in the most important moments to stay ahead.

Many inside the Arthur Ashe Stadium continued to cheer for Fritz throughout the tie, but Djokovic was able to use the partizan crowd in his favor, letting out a roar as he finally won match point.

Oval Face Shape

If you have an oval-shaped face, the length is typically slightly greater than the width, with the forehead being the widest area.

“Celebrities like Rihanna or Bella Hadid have oval faces,” says stylist to Billie Eilish and Michelle Keegan, Luke Benson, “this is often considered the most versatile shape for hairstyles.”

“Oval faces are the most flexible and can pull off almost any type of fringe – blunt, side-swept, or curtain bangs all look amazing,” says Soho-based stylist, Moe Harb from Beauty Club London.

Being the most versatile face shape, the most flattering cuts tend to be long layers, shoulder-length waves, a full fringe or a side-swept pixie. Styling your hair to create slight movement helps emphasise your perfect features.

Round Face Shape

“Selena Gomez is a great example for a round-face shape,” says Brooks and Brooks Salon’s top stylist, Charlie Illi. “It is always a good idea to keep some length and layers to conceal the rounded sides of the face.

“With a round face, you will need to add corners and height to add an edge to the round corners.”

Benson notes that styles which add height and volume tend to work well for round faces, and accessories like hair bows are ideal for lengthening.

Cuts that elongate the face, such as straight, long layers draw the eye downwards or a shaggy fringe to draw it widthways, are the most flattering.

“For round faces, side-swept bangs are the most flattering as they help elongate the face and add a bit of angularity,” notes Harb.

Square Face Shape

In square faces, the length and width are almost equal, with strong angles at the jaw and minimal curvature at the chin.

“Celebs like Angelina Jolie or Keira Knightley have square faces,” says Benson. “Soft, layered styles that soften the jawline are ideal.”

Accessories like padded headbands are perfect for softening angular facial features. If you have angular features, like Jolie, Knightley or Margot Robbie, you may consider softening the edges around the forehead and jawline with wispy bangs or soft facial framing, advises Harb.

Heart Face Shape

The heart-shaped face features a narrow, pointed chin and a wider forehead, resembling an inverted triangle. This shape is characterised by celebs such as Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson and Kourtney Kardashian.

Illi notes that having a heart-faced shape can emphasise a widows peak, making it the ideal shape to don a fringe.

“Heart-shaped faces benefit from side-swept bangs or curtain bangs to balance a wider forehead and narrower chin,” notes Harb.

This shape also benefits from from slicked-back style and updos that emphasise their natural cheekbones.

Diamond Face Shape

Diamond-shaped faces are characterised by high cheekbones, a pointy chin, and a narrower forehead.

“Celebrities like Megan Fox or Halle Berry have diamond-shaped faces,” says Benson. “Shorter haircuts that emphasize the cheekbones work well.”

Harb notes that celebrities with diamond shapes show how integral volume is. “Celebrities like Rihanna or Johnny Depp show how to use volume at the crown or chin to balance the face’s natural angularity.”

Emphasising curls and bounce is perfect for this face shape, and balances a pointed jaw.

Long (Rectangular) Face Shape

Oblong face shapes can take a similar approach to square faces, and are charactised by celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Liv Tyler.

“Avoid too much height and volume on top,” says Illi, “in order to shorten your face shape.”

Softening the edges of your face with layers, volume and a side-swept part is perfect. Benson suggests adding long layers and angles to add movement and texture to the hair.

Does that mean I can’t pull off a fringe?

While it may seem like a no-go for some of us – the allure of the Seventies curtain bangs can be hard to resist. If you’ve been hankering to try bangs but have been told ‘it’s doesn’t suit round faces’ don’t fret – as it turns out there’s a style solution for every face shape.

“Bangs or fringes can work for every face shape if done correctly, and there are plenty of variations to suit each one,” notes Harb.

“Oval faces are the most flexible and can pull off almost any type of fringe – blunt, side-swept, or curtain bangs all look amazing.

“For round faces, side-swept bangs are the most flattering as they help elongate the face and add a bit of angularity. If you have a square face, softer, wispy bangs will complement your strong jawline, softening the angular features.”

Benson advises heart-shaped faces opt for a side-swept fringe, “this helps balance a wider forehead and narrow chin.

“For diamond – soft, wispy bangs that frame the face can soften sharp angles. While oblong faces benefit from full, blunt bangs or long, layered fringes as they help shorten the appearance of the face.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told CBS News on Wednesday evening that state authorities are “absolutely” prepared for the arrival of Hurricane Milton.

“We’ve got 50,000 linemen staged, ready for rapid power restoration,” DeSantis said. “We also have a full mobilization of the Florida National Guard, as well as receiving a lot of assets from other states, so it will be the largest search and rescue function that we’ve ever done.”

The governor said that “by and large, people heeded the call” to evacuate.

He said the state’s shelters have “plenty of room,” noting that they are designed to withstand a Category 3 storm.

“Look, at this point, if you’re in the west coast of Florida, it’s probably too dangerous to go to a shelter,” DeSantis said. “But one of the things we’ve done in Florida is stress that, when you shelter, you don’t have to get on the interstate and drive hundreds of miles. We have places, even in the counties that are in the eye of the storm, that are inland, that are not susceptible to storm surge, but that are hurricane-proof.”

DeSantis also addressed misinformation that has circulated online about relief efforts for both hurricanes Milton and Helene, calling it “nonsense.”

“I think there’s some people out there, we live in an age where you can monetize a lot of this nonsense online,” DeSantis said. “You can get a lot of clicks, but that is not true in Florida. So, we’re going to do it right, your property is going to be protected. And we’re going to make sure that you get back on your feet.”

WhatsApp has finally decided to bring chat-specific theming support to the Android version of the app. Theming has always been available on WhatsApp for Android, but this was quite limited and also basically involved changing the background wallpaper of the said chat. A new interface with the ability to set a chat-specific theme has now been spotted online and adds some much-needed customisation, like Facebook’s Messenger app. Facebook’s Messenger has had chat-specific themes for a long time, so it’s a bit odd as to why it took so long to bring it to WhatsApp.

To be clear, the new theme interface and chat-specific themes are only available on the beta version of WhatsApp for Android for now. WABetaInfo, in a post, has released a few screenshots (seen in the above image) that shows an interface for theme selection which is very different from the one that’s currently available on Android devices.

Whenever WhatsApp decides to release a new update, users will be able to select from 20 Chat colours and up to 22 textured Chat themes. All of these themes will have preset chat colours for chat bubbles (different for sender and receiver), adding a new level of personalisation to chats. These themes, unlike what’s available currently, will also be chat-specific. So, just like changing wallpapers, users will be able to choose and set a specific theme for each and every chat.

The feature was recently spotted on the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS. Feature-wise, both versions of the app remain the same. Given that the feature did arrive earlier on the iOS version of WhatsApp, there is a good chance that it may appear on the release version of iOS before showing up on Android.

More recently, it was revealed that Google’s Gemini virtual assistant on Android will soon be capable of sending messages via voice commands. The feature is currently available when using Google Assistant, which is gradually being replaced by Gemini. Just like chat-specific theming, Gemini integration too is still being tested.

Gulf states are lobbying Washington to stop Israel from attacking Iran’s oil sites because they are concerned their own oil facilities could come under fire from Tehran’s proxies if the conflict escalates, three Gulf sources told Reuters.

As part of their attempts to avoid being caught in the crossfire, Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, are also refusing to let Israel fly over their airspace for any attack on Iran and have conveyed this to Washington, the three sources close to government circles said.

Israel has promised Iran will pay for its missile attack last week while Tehran has said any retaliation would be met with vast destruction, raising fears of a wider war in the region that could suck in the United States.

During meetings this week, Iran warned Saudi Arabia it could not guarantee the safety of the Gulf kingdom’s oil facilities if Israel were given any assistance in carrying out an attack, a senior Iranian official and an Iranian diplomat told Reuters.

Ali Shihabi, a Saudi analyst close to the Saudi royal court, said: “The Iranians have stated: ‘If the Gulf states open up their airspace to Israel, that would be an act of war’.”

The diplomat said Tehran had sent a clear message to Riyadh that its allies in countries such as Iraq or Yemen might respond if there was any regional support for Israel against Iran.

A potential Israeli strike was the focus of talks on Wednesday between Saudi de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who was on a Gulf tour to rally support, Gulf and Iranian sources said.

Jonathan Panikoff, former deputy US national intelligence officer on the Middle East and now at the Atlantic Council think-tank in Washington said: “Gulf states’ anxiety is likely to be a key talking point with Israeli counterparts in trying to convince Israel to undertake a carefully calibrated response.”

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, which is de-facto led by Saudi Arabia, has enough spare oil capacity to make up for any loss of Iranian supply if an Israeli retaliation knocked out some of the country’s facilities.

But much of that spare capacity is in the Gulf region so if oil facilities in Saudi Arabia or the UAE, for example, were targeted too, the world could face an oil supply problem.

“The Gulf states aren’t letting Israel use their airspace. They won’t allow Israeli missiles to pass through, and there’s also a hope that they won’t strike the oil facilities,” the Gulf source said.

The three Gulf sources emphasized that Israel could route strikes through Jordan or Iraq, but using Saudi, UAE, or Qatari airspace was off the table and strategically unnecessary.

Analysts also pointed out that Israel has other options, including mid-air refueling capabilities that would enable its jets to fly down the Red Sea into the Indian Ocean, proceed to the Gulf and then fly back.

The Lucknow Development Authority has informed SP chief Akhilesh Yadav that his planned visit to the JP Narayan International Centre on Friday is “not advisable” due to security concerns stemming from ongoing construction work at the site.

4. Akhilesh Yadav on Friday morning slammed the BJP government in the state for putting up barricades near his house on Vikramaditya Marg to prevent ‘Samajwadis’ from visiting the site and garlanding Jayaprakash Narayan’s statue.

BJP leader Shazia Ilmi said, “ Akhilesh Yadav must refrain from such political stunts…if he wants to give honest tribute to Jai Prakash Narayan, he will break his alliance with those parties, against which Jai Prakash ji raised his voice during emergency and went to jail…he also knows that there is work going on and there are other ways to pay respect.”

6. Moreover, PM Narendra Modi said in a post on X, “My respectful tribute to Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary. He dedicated his life for positive change in the country and society. His personality and ideals will remain a source of inspiration for every generation.”

7. Earlier, the SP chief posted on X, “Whether it is the BJP people or their government, their every action is a symbol of negativity. To prevent the Samajwadi people from garlanding the statue of ‘Jai Prakash Narayan Ji’ on his birth anniversary like last time, barricades have been put up around our private residence to stop them.”
