Snow squall warning issued for Sault Ste Marie and St Joseph Island

Canada Environment, the government’s department that provides official weather warnings, has issued a snow squall warning for Sault Ste Marie and St Joseph Island, effective through Thursday. Heavy snowfall and reduced visibility are expected, creating challenging travel conditions.
The snowfall is forecast to begin late Thursday morning and could continue into Friday (local time) before tapering off, according to CBC news.
The agency predicts snowfall of up to 40 centimetres by Thursday night (Canada local time), with heavy snow accumulation in certain areas, potentially exceeding this amount if squall bands become stationary.
Northwest winds gusting up to 50 km/h will worsen conditions, leading to blowing snow and poor visibility. Sudden changes in weather are likely, with clear skies turning into near-whiteout conditions within a few kilometres.
Environment Canada has warned that rapidly accumulating snow may give rise to hazardous travel conditions in affected areas. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, as visibility could drop to near zero in heavy snow and blowing snow.
