Isro Spadex Mission Live Streaming: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up for its ambitious Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission, set to launch at 10:00 PM IST from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on Monday.
This pioneering mission aims to demonstrate in-space docking technology using two small spacecraft, marking a significant step in India’s space exploration efforts.
SpaDeX is designed as a cost-effective technology demonstrator that will utilise the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C60) to deploy two satellites: SDX01, the Chaser, and SDX02, the Target.

Each satellite weighs approximately 220 kg and will operate in a low-Earth circular orbit at an altitude of about 470 kilometers. The primary objective is to develop and validate technologies for rendezvous, docking, and undocking, which are crucial for future missions involving multiple spacecraft.
This mission is particularly important for India’s long-term space ambitions, including lunar exploration and the establishment of the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS).
Mastering in-space docking technology is essential for complex missions where multiple rocket launches are required to achieve common objectives. If successful, India will join an elite group of nations—becoming the fourth country globally to possess this capability.
In addition to its primary goals, SpaDeX includes several secondary objectives. These involve demonstrating electrical power transfer between docked spacecraft, controlling one spacecraft with another’s attitude control system during docking, and conducting various payload operations post-undocking.
The mission will also feature a suite of advanced technologies such as rendezvous sensors and inter-satellite communication links.
ISRO officials have expressed optimism about the mission’s potential impact on future space endeavours.
With a series of tests planned over the next two years, including operations of 24 innovative payloads—some developed by universities and startups—SpaDeX represents a significant leap forward in India’s quest for advanced space technology.
As the countdown begins, the scientific community eagerly anticipates this landmark event in India’s space journey.
