Deepika, Ranveer reveal daughter Dua's face at private event

Deepika, Ranveer reveal daughter Dua's face at private event

Bollywood couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh hosted a special meet-and-greet with the paparazzi on Monday evening.

The event was their first public appearance since the birth of their daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, on September 8, 2024.

The couple greeted the photographers at their residence in Mumbai. For the occasion, they introduced their baby girl to the media, but in line with their previous request, they asked that no photos of Dua be taken.

The couple, who had been protective of their daughter’s privacy, made it clear that while they were happy to share the moment with the press, they wanted to keep their daughter’s image private.

Paparazzo Pallav Paliwal, who was present at the event, shared the details with Hindustan Times. He said, “Deepika brought baby Dua in her arms, and she clung to her mother the entire time. She was dressed in a simple white dress and looked adorable. They asked us to keep the noise down as Dua had just awakened from her nap.”

The couple also made sure to take care of the photographers present. Ranveer sweets he enjoyed and ensured the catering team served them warmly. “They also made sure to send sweets for our families,” added Paliwal.

Deepika and Ranveer also assured the paparazzi that they would share photos of Dua with the public when the time felt right. The couple’s primary concern during the event was ensuring their daughter’s comfort and privacy.

Since their daughter’s birth, Deepika and Ranveer have kept a low profile, with the couple occasionally sharing glimpses of their little one on social media. They had previously announced their daughter’s name, Dua, on Diwali with a heartfelt message: “Dua means a prayer. Because she is the answer to our prayers. Our hearts are filled with love & gratitude.”

Previously, backlash erupted on social media, with some questioning why the couple, both of whom are Hindu, opted for an Arabic name. Critics suggested names with similar meanings from Hindu traditions, such as “Prarthana,” a Sanskrit term also meaning “prayer.”

Their private event comes shortly after similar gestures from other Bollywood parents like Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who also introduced their daughter Raha to the paparazzi in a similar manner. Other celebrity couples, including Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli and Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja, have requested the media to respect their children’s privacy, with many opting not to share photos of their babies on social media just yet.
