Another year, another milestone – that is how it is the life of any parent. Atif Aslam, rocker to the nation but dad to Aryan, is no different. Taking to Instagram, the proud father put up a carousel of five pictures and videos marking his son’s birthday.
Set to the tune of Baadshah O Baadshah, the first picture shows the denim-clad Aryan standing on the sun-dappled balcony of a crisp winter’s day, the sprawling traffic below but a speck. He is doing what young children are prone to do when their parents beseech them to look towards the camera: hiding his face in his denim jacket (with the sleeves rather adorably rolled up).
In the second picture, Aryan, dressed in a bright turquoise top, once again thwarts any photo-taking efforts by screwing his eyes tightly shit, sitting on the sofa with his tablet on his lap.
The third photo shows young Aryan exuding a casual too-cool-for-school attitude rocking an oversized grey T-shirt and black trousers. Standing with his hands behind his back and feet wide apart, Aryan is glancing off into the distance as if to say, “I will look in any direction that pleases me.”
From here we segue into two short videos. The first depicts a quintessential father-son moment as we are invited to catch a glimpse of Aryan perched on his father’s shoulders, hands clasped firmly beneath his chins Atif keeps a stronghold on his son’s legs – a rite of passage destined to become a core memory for the young boy.
The final video rounds off the carousel, with the spotlight on the birthday boy as he dances the hour away with his young friends. “Atif Aslam who? Happy birthday handsome. You are a rockstar and you know it,” captioned Atif.
The Aadat hitmaker shares two sons and a daughter with his wife Sara Bharwana. Whether or not Aryan looks back on his birthday with fondness, his parents certainly will.
