Ishan Kishan made history on December 10, 2022, by smashing the fastest double hundred in ODI cricket. The left-handed batter achieved this incredible milestone in just 126 balls against Bangladesh during the third ODI in Chattogram. Kishan’s innings of 210 runs off 131 balls was filled with boundaries, including 24 fours and 10 sixes. His explosive knock helped India post a massive total of 409/8 and secure a dominant 227-run victory.

Opening the innings after India lost the toss, Kishan partnered with Shikhar Dhawan. However, Dhawan fell early, leaving India at 15/1. Kishan then joined forces with Virat Kohli, and the duo turned the game around. Their partnership of 290 runs for the second wicket laid the foundation for India’s gigantic score. While Kohli contributed 113 runs off 91 balls, Kishan’s innings was the highlight of the day.

Kishan broke several records during his innings. At 24 years old, he became the youngest player to score a double hundred in ODIs. He is also only the fourth Indian to achieve this feat, joining the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma. Additionally, his double century came in just 126 balls. As he broke Chris Gayle’s record of the fastest ODI double hundred, which the West Indian had scored in 138 balls during the 2015 World Cup.

India’s total of 409/8 was the highest-ever ODI score by a visiting team in Bangladesh. Chasing such a massive target, Bangladesh was under pressure from the start. They were bowled out for just 182 runs in 34 overs. India’s bowlers, led by Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur, kept things tight and ensured a one-sided finish.

Kishan’s remarkable knock showcased his fearless approach and immense potential. His ability to dominate the bowlers with clean hitting showed his talent and temperament. The innings hinted at a bright future for the young batter.

India’s convincing win in the match helped end the series on a high note, even though Bangladesh had already won the first two games. Kishan’s record-breaking performance will remain one of the most memorable moments in ODI cricket.
