Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal announced five new guarantees for autorickshaw drivers, including up to ₹10 lakh insurance cover, ₹1 lakh for daughters’ weddings and support for children’s education.
The current term of the Delhi assembly ends on February 23, 2025.

- Kejriwal said the government would also look into coaching classes for auto drivers’ kids.

Speaking about his visit, Kejriwal said, “Yesterday, I had a meeting with auto drivers at my home. Today, I had come to have lunch at Navneet’s (auto driver) home. I want to make five announcements for auto drivers. In February (2025), when we will come to power again, then we will implement these five announcements.”
“First, the government will give ₹1 lakh for the marriage of daughters of all auto drivers. Second, the government will provide ₹2,500 on Diwali and Holi for uniforms. Third, the government will provide life insurance worth ₹10 lakh and accident insurance worth ₹5 lakh…,” he added.
Kejriwal also met auto-rickshaw drivers on Monday and reminisced about the party’s early days, when he, along with former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, used to put posters on auto-rickshaws for campaigning.
Kejriwal also shared a photo of him and Sisodia pasting the party’s poster on an auto-rickshaw and said, “This is a very old picture. When we had just started the party, Manish and I used to paste posters on the back of every auto. Since then, auto drivers have always supported us.”
The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday released its second list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi.
The Kejriwal-led party changed Sisodia’s Patparganj seat; he will now contest from the Jangpura. Awadh Ojha has been made a candidate from Sisodia’s old seat Patparganj.
