Prince Harry on Meghan: "We’ve divorced 10, 12 times”

Ever since Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, got married in 2018, the couple have been getting people’s attention worldwide. And in recent days, with Harry and Meghan making individual appearances at events, rumours are rife about trouble in their marriage. Responding to queries about this, Prince Harry finally opened up and stated at an event.
Prince Harry was speaking to Andrew Ross Sorkin about his equation with his wife Meghan and the rumours surrounding their divorce, at The New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit. Bringing the topic Sorkin said, “I Google Newsed you, and there were people fascinated by everything you’re doing, all the time. They’re fascinated by Meghan being in California right now, and you’re here… And there’s articles left and right about, you know, ‘Why are you making, doing independent events? Why aren’t you doing them together?'”
Responding to it, Prince Harry joked, “Because you invited me, you should have known!”
He then added that being a celebrity who is constantly being judged by people and the media is “definitely not a good thing”.
Talking about the rumours about his divorce from Meghan, Prince Harry further said, “Apparently we’ve bought or moved houses 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?’.” Sharing how he dealt with such negative news, he said, “It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls. Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.”
Prince Harry further said that he knows his conversation with Sorkin will also be twisted against him.
For the unversed, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been making separate appearances at events for quite some time now and some royal experts suggest that the two are “professionally separated”. The move is a part of rebuilding Prince Harry’s image, as the couple have faced much backlash from the public alike for speaking ill about his family– the UK royals.
Meanwhile, the buzz is that Prince Harry and Meghan’s equations with the UK royals are strained, and it might not get better anytime soon. As per a report by Fox News, Prince Harry and Meghan have not been invited by King Charles III for Christmas celebration this year in Sandringham, which is a family tradition of the UK royals. The last time Prince Harry and Meghan attended the family’s Christmas celebration was back in 2018, the year when they got married. In 2020, Harry and Meghan decided to step back from their duties as senior members of the royal family, followed by their explosive interview about the UK royals, their series, and Prince Harry’s controversial memoir ‘Spare’– all of which got them much criticism by the public.
